Are you sure?  I know Ray Charles' "I Can't Stop Loving You" was used for the climactic scene.  The only "Rambling Rose" I know was by MC5, and that certainly wasn't in the movie.

Here are some more:

"Bohemian Rhapsody"  WAYNE'S WORLD
"Partytime" RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Mea culpa. You're right. It was "I Can't Stop Loving You." What was I thinking. Now back to our sponsor.

Chadzilla

It's A Long Road from "First Blood"

That Kenny Loggins song from Stallone's "Over the Top"
"Meet me half way, across the sky!"

Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear The Reaper - used to good effect in John Carpenter's Halloween and Stephen King's The Stand.

Bandstand Boogie in John Carpenter's Escape from New York

Alice Cooper's The Man Behind the Mask from Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part 6.

Benson, Arizona from Dark Star.

Jerry Reed's East Bound and Down - Smokey and the Bandit.

Peggy Sue Got Married used in Peggy Sue Got Married!  :-)

"Showdown" in William Lustig's Maniac.

Tubular Bells in The Exorcist

What was I thinking? It is worst then I thought. It was Nat King Cole who had a hit with "Rambling Rose" in '62, not Ray Charles. Though, that was the same year that Ray Charles had his hit with "I Can't Stop Loving You." Thanks again for Mofo Rising for pointing out my error. Now, back to our sponsor.

'Strange Things Happen' in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2

It was also used as the main song in The Stoned Age

Lee

Feel The Heat- Cobra

Do You Believe In Magic- Second Sight

Hell's Bells- Maximum Overdrive

Queen's We Will Rock You was done awesomely in the opening of A Knight's Tale.

This is the Hell that's my life.-Howard Stern: Private Parts

Dano

Dano

Fearless Freep

Didn't "Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark" do a theme song for one of those similar 80's brat pack  (Molly Ringwald) movies like "Pretty In Pink" or "Sixteen Candles"?

OMD sure did.  "If You Leave" was pretty much the theme for "Pretty in Pink."

I have the OMD greatest hits CD, have for years.  Good stuff when taken in moderation.

Yeah, that was the song I was thinking of..couldn't remember the title (but that makes sense) and outside of "The Breakfast Club" I didn't see many of those movies so I coudln't place it accurately

I have a OMD tape around somewhere.  Can't remember the title but it has some kinda strange stuff (like Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech done to music)
