Andrew

Here's to hoping that 2009 is a new start, for quite a few things.  The hideous flu bug that made Jenna vomit everywhere the other night at 3:00am has now hit everyone - except Garrett it seems.  I was out of commission from Tuesday night until Wednesday; for about 14 hours I couldn't do a thing.  Katie and Andy came down with it around the time I was able to partially function.

The bug seems short lived, but it is one of the worst I've encountered in a while.  Along with vomiting and...other gastrointestinal distress, you run a high fever (102 or so) that causes hot/cold flashes and sweats, suffer a headache, and experience deep muscle and joint aches.  I felt like I'd been hit by a bus; hadn't felt that sore since spending two solid weeks doing USMC martial arts, getting thrown to the ground over and over.

I've been the same way Andrew, well apart from the martial arts.  :teddyr: Had to have a day off work because I was up all night puking in the toilet. It was agony, felt like someone was slashing my intestines with razor blades.

Anyway, happy 1989!

Another thing Little Menard takes after me.

I recall a few years back my wife was hit hard by the flu.  I had to take her to the ER and luckily they gave her some meds to cope.  My son, who was under a year old at the time, got hit after that and it was a diaper changing fest in my house.  Luckily, I didn't get hit.

My kids got some awful bug when they were about a year old, and I changed 14 diapers in about 2 1/2 hours  . . .  by myself, because my wife had it too. :bluesad:

STOMACH BUGS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hatred:

Correction, it now appears that Garrett also has the bug.  At least Katie is now over the worst of it.

Sorry to hear that Andrew.

I don't recall anything worse than the smell of baby diarhea diapers.

God that sounds awful.  We have been there too but fortunately not as of yet.

One of the hardest things about being sick and still having to fulfill your parently duties.   I remember when my son Lars got the flu for the first time both my wife and I got sick right after he got better.

I feel for you and hope everyone gets better soon.

Raffine

Everyone, I feel your pain.

This past weekend I got a whoppin' dose of this stuff. I seldom get really sick so it's always a rather rude surprise to me that my body can behave is such a unpredictable, nasty way.

I had terrible chills, sweats, bodyaches, stomach flip-flops, the whole enchilada (enchilada - uuurp!). I spent three days practically crawling between the bathroom and the bed. Fortunately I never got the two confused.

Other than a hacking cough it's pretty much gone. Although, in a fit of returning appetite I decided those Taco Bell Gorditas (or whatever) looked sooo delicious in the commercials that while out running a few errands today I went through a Taco Bell drive-thru and wolfed one down. Big mistake!

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Raffine, I thought the pic was a joke...  :bluesad:

Andrew and everyone: I hope the new year finds all of you healthy and feeling well!

Well, the joke was on me, and that Gordita was the Joker!

The worst part of stomach bugs is when you can't stop heaving - you fully expect to see your SHOES come flying out your mouth at any moment!

I caught this one first, then poogie did. I had to call the paramedics for her. This is one bad bug.

Maybe her nickname should have been pukie instead?

We're getting over the worst of this thing here.  We're in something of a self-imposed quarantine, in hopes that we will not infect anyone else.  It is the worst stomach flu I have seen in my life, just because it hits you so many ways and so severely.

It's like dysentery, mixed with a hangover, mixed with getting beat up by Mike Tyson.
