MGM or Hallmark movie

I remember seeing this movie on a Sunday morning in the 70's early 1980's  When we had great programming on Sunday morning/afternoons.

All I have is;

Two guys traveling (maybe walking) across the Mideast / Asia... The small of the two guys starts to go blind near the end of the movie.
He also is a great archer.. (He competes with the locals)

No, not that movie.. I did see and liked that movie but the movie I am looking for is a little older than that.
