Good Host/Bad Host

Sometimes a host of a show can make a difference. Can you think of some examples where the host adds to the show and other examples where the host literally makes you cringe. For example...

I don't know what it is but I can't stand this guy. It could be the ridiculous spiked dyed hair, the fact I can't eat at TGIFridays anymore because I think of him when I go there, or his idiotic jokes. The show is GREAT but he sucks man.

Bob is the man. Great sense of humor, perfect delivery and he honestly made a fun show the most exciting it could ever be. Drew Carey sucks as the host and doesn't belong hosting the show. Although I did like Carey as the host of Whos Line Is It Anyway.

I actually prefer Amstell, I didn't at first though.

I loved Bob Barker! I think Drew Carey was so wrong for the new Price is Right host. I wanted SO BAD for David Lee Roth be the new host of Price is Right and make good on his Hot for Teacher video promise of becomming America's favorite TV Game Show host!!

Diamond Dave...I never though of it but he would be perfect. If he could keep his hands off the female contestants that is.

Back when America's Funniest Home Videos and America's Funniest People aired back to back, I used to note that AFV was a funny show with a host (Bob Saget) who sucked, while AFP was a show that sucked, but Dave Coullier was a funny host. I wished they would switch hosts, put Coullier on AFV and cancel that other piece of crap.

Good Host: Whose Line is it Anyway? (American) with Drew Carey

To make things worse, the British one seems to have completely disappered from my cable line up, so I'm stuck with egotistical Drew, who puts himself up on stage for some of the routines.

I actually liked AFP during the first episode. Then the "talent" wore thin. I'm not sure if it was more the writers (maybe Saget was one of them, who knows) or Saget's delivery but you're right, he did suck on AFV. He was completely obnoxious and made me cringe during some of the "jokes". Tom Bergeron is a better host.

I agree. Clive Anderson was very funny, subdued but a great ad-libber. Drew is simply awful on that show. He's a horrible improviser and has no business being on stage with the others.

I haven't seen episodes of the British show since the American version debuted.
