In case you haven't heard, the folks from MST3k have a "new" thing called rifftrax where you can download their mp3 ribbing of current (and older) movies for a small fee.     I finally bought my first one for Halloween and me and my slasher-fan buddies sat around and watched it over the holiday weekend and let me tell ya, it was pretty damned funny...I actually enjoyed hearing them rib one of the classics without insulting the source material.

Pretty good stuff - I can't wait for another one!

Be sure to check out iRiffs, too. It features some pretty cool riffs from amateur riffers, sketch comedy groups, film fans and professional comedians. Doug (Nostalgia Critic) Walker of THAT GUY WITH THE GLASSES did one for The Lion King, and the Blame Society guys (with Chad Vader) did Star Wars - A New Hope. Hor-RIFF-ic Productions is worth checking out (they did Friday the 13th, Sleepaway Camp and Children of the Corn), and there will be a riff for Howard the Duck coming out in the next week or so.

Yeah, I've gotten a few Rifftrax, and they really are good. With Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Jim Mallon doing the riffing, it's pretty darned close to MST3K. And yeah, the best part is that you can have the riffing with GOOD movies as well as bad ones. By just selling the riff, they avoid all the licencing limitations of MST3K. I bought their Raiders of the Lost Ark track a while ago. Loved it.

I also like that they have guest riffers. I think my next one will be Jurassic Park with Mike and Weird Al Yankovic.

The Rifftrax that they did for The Star Wars Holiday Special is a particularly good one.

There's also that Cinematic Titanic, with Joel and a few of the others as well.  Are they still doing that?

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.
