One of Roger Corman's all-time classics, proving that he can successfully blend Gothic imagery, great storytelling, and classy actors into a wonderful horror classic.
As for this "R. Corman cheese shop",that all started as soon as he sold New World(which developed into a short-lived mini-major studio,1984-1989,whose "classics" include the first two "Hellraiser"s,"Angel","Hell Comes To Frogtown",and the all-too-immortal prison schlockfest "Reform School Girls"),and turned it into the mediocre(to the extreme)New Concorde(first,Concorde)Picutres, famous for all of their Slumber Party(and Sorority Party)Massacres,Bloodfists, and numerous Maria Ford,Julie Strain,Jim Wynorski(there's that lovely name again!!!) and Don "the Dragon" Wilson outings, that sadly lessened his respected name in recent years, but Roger's strong charisma and legendary persona has carried him through this century to fully succeed, and carry on his film producing legacy.
