While online I came across the sad story of the recent murder of Lou Perryman (the actor who portrayed LG in TCM 2).  This made me start thinking about the movie, and brought back some fond memories, since it is one of my favorites.  It was a very different film from the first TCM (and it's taken some flak for that), but I enjoyed TCM 2 just as much if not more than the first TCM.  I found it to be very funny and entertaining as well as creepy, and I still watch it once in a great while.  The guy with the metal plate in his head is hilarious!  Then there's the scene where LG finds his face and tries to put it back on, the scene with Dennis Hopper at the chainsaw store, etc. I could go on and on.  Maybe I'm the only one who likes it.  Anyone else have any thoughts on this movie?  Good or bad, post them here.

And if you're interested in the story about Lou Perryman you can find it at:

TCM 2 is great.  I actually like it more than I like Part 1.  Most don't like it, but to hell with them.

I enjoyed it as well. Bill Mosely is excellant as Chop Top,and Dennis Hopper makes a formidible adversary for the inner bred killer clan! There's acually more gore in this one....and though not as relentless in it's horror,I think it was a wise move on Tobe Hoopers part to not try and remake #1,and go with a different feel for this movie. Much more outrageous!

RIP Lou... The man who played Granpa just died too! V_V How old was he, 150 by now? And still a crack-shot with the sledge...

As I've said before I thought TCM 2 was awesomely quirky, and my girlfriend loved it too. :) Still, like Evil Dead 2 to the original, it doesn't have a leg up on it's straight-up-scary predecessor, at least IMO.

Wow this is really sad news, RIP Lou.

TCM 2 is so unlike the first film that I agree, Hooper was smart in not trying to remake the first film and to do something completely over the top. From the 'Breakfast Club' parody poster you know from the get go that the director and cast have their tongue planted firmly in their cheeks. Bill Moseley as Chop Top is simply great as well as Jim as Drayton Sawyer.

The way I approach this film as a sequel is oddly enough the same way I think about Mad Max, and the Roadwarrior. The first film in each respective series is very gritty, and filmed in such a way that you could readily believe the actions that are taking place on the screen. With TCM 2, and the Roadwarrior I find them both to have a weird dreamlike/phantasmagoric quality about them that borders on the surreal. Both films are more thrill-rides compared to the originals.

Is TCM 2 'better' than TCM, I don't know its debatable, but I certainly enjoy it more. I feel the same with the Roadwarrior which is quite possibly the greatest action film ever made.

I agree. While I won't disagree that the 1st one is a classic, the 2nd one is still my personal favorite of the two.

Plus, you've got to love the band Primus using the Dog Will Hunt quote in their seminal track Jerry Was a Race Car Driver.

This is a preview of DEVIL'S REJECTS. Too many people watch this movie as serious. The Rob Zombie fliks are direct decendants of this film. Black humor. VERY BLACK.I like Rob Zombie movies.

As mentioned previously, TCM is a classic, so they kinda had to go in a sort of opposite direction in order to do a sequel.  What they eventually came up with was so beyond bizarre that they ran the risk of alienating hardcore fans of the first.  Either way, I like it a hell of a lot more than part one.

I was gonna mention Primus using Chop Top.  Great track too.

You seem to be one of the few around here who also likes Zombie's flicks.  Many don't like them as they seem to be either too violent, too much harsh language, or just direct ripoffs of the '70s 'grindhouse' era slasher flicks.

And yes, I do like his flicks.

I would give more credit for Charles Kaufman's "Mother's Day" then Hooper.

Psycho Circus

Great film. Different to the original, with all the goofy stuff and humour. TCM 1 is a stone cold horror classic, but this film is just damn entertaining!

"Mother's Day" is a quite unusual horror film because it predates Nightmare on Elm Street and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, yet you would think they got their idea from such "Anti-Heroes."
