Squishy

This was all inspired by an earlier thread about "Battle Beyond The Stars," but this song is so awful, so painful, that it deserves the B-movie masochist's full attention, yet some are unaware of its existence! I love it so much I feel compelled to give it a bit of background, and other stuff at the end.

-------------------------------------------

"When was I born? Where did I come from? Where am I going? What am I?"

--The Hopi Questions, as printed in Martin Cruz Smith's "Nightwing"

-------------------------------------------

"Far beyond the world I've known,
Far beyond my time
What am I, who am I, what will I be?
Where am I going, and what will I see?
Searching my mind for some truth to reveal
What parts are fantasy, what memories real?

Long before this life of mine,
Long before this time
What was there, who cared to make it begin?
Is it forever, or will it all end?
Searching my past for things that I've seen
Is it my life, or something I've dreamed?

Far beyond this world I've known,
Far beyond my time
What kind of world am I going to find?
Will it be real, or just all in my mind?
What am I, who am I, what will I be?
Where am I going, and what will I see?"

--"Suspension," the "Buck Rogers In The 25th Century" (movie) theme; music by Stu Phillips, lyrics by Glen A. Larson, apparently inspired by the Hopi Questions, and sung by Kipp Lennon

You can download the song from here if you dare (as well as the lyric-free TV version), but I am not responsible for any consequences that may result from such foolish action. Believe me, Twiki is nowhere near as annoying as Kipp; I'd rather HE'D sung the damned thing.

------------------------------------------

"Does this make me look fat? What's in it for me? Where are my car keys? What is my shoe size? When do I get paid?"

--My updated version, "Teh Hopeless Questions" (sic). I might even try to write a version of "Suspension" based on them. Stop me before I swill again!!! (Or add your own questions/lyrics. It's all good. Or is it? The answer, sadly, is yes.)

------------------------------------------

"He likes booze, is what he's trying to say."
--Mike n' The Bots, "MST3K: The Horror Of Party Beach"

Ah, finaly got a signature, eh Squishy? Nice one.
....Oh, man....butt Rodgers..Ahem...Buck Rodgers was just too silly for me. Actualy, it was that robot "Kenny" Twiki that got my goat. I hated that bot! Kept hopeing for an airlock failure, a crushing by a rock monster, but Noooooo!
....Curse you, Glenn Larson!

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Redjackr

Yeah, Buck Rogers was crap.. no doubt about it, but I'd suffer through it all again just to see Erin Grey in spandex...

Thanks oh so much for posting the lyrics to that song,  Damn you..  now i can't get the evil song out of my head!

John

I liked Buck Rogers, at least until they decided the show needed more drama and less special effects.

Andrew

The best part about the beginning of the movie is this song.  The women are rolling around on the lighted floor, given "come hither" looks to the camera.  All the while this completely impossible song is crooning on.
