I LOVE METAL GEAR but I am scared. Not exactly the type of director I want directing the movie to my favorite game franchise.

I read up on what movies he made but I don't know anything about them. Did he make a lot of bad movies?

Wow, Wimmer directing? This has strong potential to be really good, and an equally strong potential to be horrible. Loved Equilibrium, and loved the visuals of Ultraviolet but thought UV was a horrible movie.

I'd like to see a Metal Gear movie, but the question is how they'll change the story: Kojima's effort in Guns of the Patriots was great but the darn thing was too dense and confusing if you didn't play the rest of them [and even when you have]

The plot for Metal Gear Solid was pretty basic, and needs a bit of tweaking to be an 'awesome movie' rather than an action film that's fun.

Still, it's better than Paul "I'm a douche" Anderson.

When I heard about the movie I thought "Well, this could be great! Please don't f**k it up!".
Then I learned that Wimmer will direct it. I cried out a "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!", and then went to the fetal position and cried a little.
Metal gear has a great story, but Wimmer is such an untalented hack. He will rape this poor game.
I saw Ultraviolet and Equilibrium. They are both horrible.

I think the only saving grace for a Wimmer-helmed production is that this one he is not writing, but only directing, whereas Ultraviolet [a generally terrible story] was written AND directed by Wimmer.

I enjoyed alot of the visuals in Ultraviolet, but absolutely hated the plot and the story. So I'm going to stick with being positive, though I generally don't think anyone will be able to pull it off properly.

Still futuristic military-type stories in general need to really be explored more. Who cares if it's MGS...

MGS is one of the few games I could really see being adapted into a good movie. The game pretty much was treated as a movie so adapting it might not be to difficult.

Well it wouldn't be MGS if somewhere in the film someone doesn't scream ' Snake... SNNAAAKKEE!!!'

I share most eveyone here's opinion about both Equilibrium and Ultra Violet, the guy has a knack for some pretty dynamic action scenes, but overall not that great. Equilibrium I enjoyed moreso than UV. Eh I'll probably wait on this one in any case. It could be worse though, Uwe Boll anyone?

Well if you really want to run the movie into the ground lets get the Disater movie guys, Uwe Boll and Wimmer together for a co-director/producer/writer gig. You'll have a movie no intelligent human being can watch with out massive amounts of alcohol.

That said, I hope Wimmer can do better than Boll, otherwise somebody should take him out back and drive some sense into him.

Would make an awesome movie, seeing as the games play like movies anyway. Again, should have been made 20 years ago, it'll suck now. They'll mis-cast everyone and change the whole story.

I think that a MSG movie would be awesome. I loved the game. I regret getting rid of my PS1 and the game. I loved the story line and the development of the characters. I hope this Winer guy, sorry, Wimmer guy, does not mess this up. I will think nasty thoughts and project them to him.
