Some Things on Film, particularly in old 1950s B-Movies, have an habit of transforming and growing, getting larger and larger.

From 20 Million Miles To Earth comes the Ymir who was basically egg-napped and brought to the Earth only to hatch in an environment that adversely affects his physiology resulting in him getting bigger and bigger. Soon he bursts free of his cage and while simply trying to find a bite to eat, pretty much thereafter minding his own business, until some darn dog barks at him and attacks him. Suddenly he's mistaken as a threat to humanity although he never does anything harmful to anything unless in self defense or after much too much poking and prodding. Eventually he has  become so large and so furious at being tormented that he does become a very serious threat indeed.

A strange meteor crashes into the Earth. A curious old man pokes it with a stick...suddenly some mysterious goo runs up the stick and surrounds his arm causing the man great discomfort. A couple of teenagers(including Steve McQueen who hardly looks teenage at all) carry him to the Doctor but soon find themselves and the entire town (but only the teens it appears have any real sense) facing the deadly serious force of seemingly unstoppable growing all-encompassing mass known as The Blob

A rocket crashes into British country in the middle of the night. On the scene is the man behind the rocket's mysterious journey to the stars - Bernard Quatermass.  Soon rescued is one of the astronauts but something rather odd seems to be happening to him. Eventually Quatermass et al uncover the secret truth behind all of this and must face the deadly growing spreading potential of the new alien lifeform in The Creeping Unknown !

They come to Earth as spores...but soon grow into pods. Beware these unusual plants because maybe they might grow into you. Beware the Invasion of the Body Snatchers. If you're not careful, you might become a pea in a pod. Something to think about while you munch your veggies for sure. ;)

The smallest invaders can hold deadly potential.

So any more we could add?

The Loch Ness Monster in SEVEN FACES OF DR. LAO

When the two drunken cowpokes removes the tiny monster from its goldfish bowl it grows and grows and grows...

That one garnered a nomination, but not a win, for an Oscar for Best Special Visual Effects for the film.

And the two drunken cowpokes, B-movie character actors Royal Dano and John Doucette.

And, of course, the director for the film (IMHO) one of the most unsung film directors in Hollywood, none other but George Pal.

I guess one could add Spiders (2000) to the list.
