Just watched this one on a rainy day off from work.  By no means a flawless movie, but it is the best werewolf movie I have seen in a very very long time.  It's about a squad of British soldiers on an exercise in the Scottish Highlands when they encounter the monsters.  Highly recommended.

Liked it, too. Actually, I'll highly recommend it as well. It is unfortunate that it did not get some type of theatrical release. It is also something of an embarrassment to we Americans, the home of the werewolf film, that the three most recent werwolf films have been the Canadian "Ginger Snaps," the French "Brotherhood of the Wolf," and the British "Dog Soldiers." Enjoy!

Brother Ragnarok

Well, technically Brotherhood of the Wolf isn't a werewolf movie since the monster is actually a lion.  Ginger Snaps and Dog Soldiers both rule, though.  When I saw Dog Soldiers on the Sci Fi Channel, I couldn't believe how much blood they left in for a TV print.  I can't wait to see the full movie with no commercials.

After reading your opinions, I saw this film at the video store a block and a half down from where I live.

I wanted to rent it but the 3 copies they had were gone.

I looked at the back of the box though.

It looked like prime b-movie material!

I'll have to check it out once it becomes available.

*****  Over the past few years, I've noticed that this is a good way to spot a pretty good movie.  Lack of availability on one or two occasions when you think about getting it is an indication of good word-of-mouth, I think.  Let us know what you think when you do get it.

The movie "Dog Soldiers" turned out to be better than I suspected.  It has classic B-Movie written all over it.  There are some really funny and inconsistent scenes.  My favorite character was the Sarge.  Here are a few spoilers.

â€" The Sarge gets his guts ripped out and they simply tuck it in and sew him up.
â€" One of the soldiers out-boxes a werewolf until he gets gang tackled.
â€" In an attempt to subdue a werewolf, the Sarge accidently grabs a twig and says "fetch."
â€" Turning into a werewolf is like taking a Number 2.  When you gotta go, you gotta go.

Hahaha... some funny stuff.  The Werewolf costumes were great.

"Hey Ryan.  You try licking your balls yet?"

Hahaha... Oh yeah, that was pretty funny.  Somehow I kept thinking Cooper was gonna get some action from the chick and save the movie, but it never developed...  Still a very good werewolf flick.

Have to admit Dog Soldiers is one of the best horror flicks I've seen in ages.

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elder berries...

It's a lion?  I didn't know that.  I thought it was some unknown creature they never said what it was...

What you saw on television is probably what you'll see in the video and DVD. I have been in contact, on another board, with someone who saw it in the theater in the U.K., and there is apparently no difference in the version shown here on television and the version shown over there in the theater.
As for "Brotherhood of the Wolf," I think there are enough clues given in the film that the supposed beast is suppose to be a lion. In all actuality, the beast was actually a striped hyena. This from someone else on the same board mentioned above. Which makes more sense than a lion, which I won't go into, at this time. Enjoy!

Just got done watching this, liked it quite a bit.

Don't forget the MATRIX reference.

"Where's Spoon?"
"There is no Spoon."

At least I assume that was a MATRIX reference.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

I just went to Blockbuster and saw it on sale for $9.61.  I picked it up and I plan on watching it tonight or tommorow after OZ

Bought the dvd last week and watcbed it, very entertaining, cool werewolves that actually do kill people unlike so many other boring werwolf related movies.
