Yeah, I'm having my own movie marathon in two weeks. Could someone recommend food and beverages and movies to get on it. Kthxbye.

I love, buffalo wings with ranch dressing on it, it is the best bad movie food.
As for movies, any famous sequal (F13th, Hallomeen, etc.) are good and that Spookies movie they reviewd sounded funny too.

Depends on how much you wanna torture your viewers.

First start 'em out with some Full Moon black comedy like THE CREEPS, HEAD OF THE FAMILY, and HIDEOUS! Then try something really bizarre like XTRO. After that move on to one of the cult hits of the 90s like LEPRECHAUN. JACK FROST, or CARNOSAUR. To finish it off, through in some so-cheesy-they're-painful-to-watch flick like DEMON WIND, THE BEING, SKEETER, TROLL II, THE CRAWLERS, a Polonia brothers movie or the ultimate crap flick... STAR CRYSTAL.

A suggestion:  If I was going to try to organize a B-movie marathon, I would try to have some cohesion in the movies picked.  Specifically, I would do it chronologically, starting with a great early sci-fi/horror movie (King Kong, Them, etc).  I'd have an example of a paranoia movie, a disaster movie (see the review for the Swarm on Reader Reviews), an Ed Wood, an Evil Dead, one of the early great slasher movies, post-apocalypse, and so on.  Give a selection of the best of the sub-genres.

Night of the Creeps has always been a favorite. Some 70's kung fu might not be a bad idea, anything with Shaolin vs. ...... or  Drunken something or other is a good choice.

I do not know if showing "Star Crystal" is such a good idea.  That is, unless you like lynch mobs with your name on them.  Reminds me of the time I showed "Sextette" to the group here.  They actually tackled me to get the remote.

Oh god, Just hearing the name STARCRYSTAL brings back horrid memories. I remember when I announced that I was going to watch star crystal and andrew said "I woulden't be surprised if he never shows up again".

At least I had a friend by my side when I watched it, although the last 15 min or so seemed wayyyyyy to much for him and he left.

hahahah. Memories.

Don't get me wrong. I'd watch it again in an instant.

They tacked you for the remote, Andrew? After reading Ken Begg's review, i'm suprised they diden't tar and feather ya!
....Then agine, you never mentioned weither they were Civies or Marines.

StarCrystal is not a movie It's a little know interogation device used on POWs. Had they shown Princess Lia Starcrystal they would have known where the secret hidden (redundent?) base was and the moviw would have been shorter... much shorter.

I'd say an early Peter Jackson fest would send most people into therapy. Imagine Bad Taste, Dead Alive and Meet the Feebels... BACK TO BACK!!! We will achieve room temperature fusion yet!

If you are of age I recommend some beers (killians or linies red are my favs) and pizza, chips, and/or pretzels.

I would pick movies that are faster paced.  From my experience, people seem to want to get up and leave if you pick a slow paced movie especially if it is a bigger group.

Is this going to be a small private gathering, or something bigger? If you're just having some friends over, a sandwich buffet might be an idea.

I know when I'm planning a serious night of movie watching, I like to make up some sandwiches. I love sitting down to three or four B-movies (or anime) with a couple of Reubens, or some Italian salami and provolone on a kaiser.

Lay out a table with a few kinds of cold cuts, cheeses, bread, condiments, etc., along with some popcorn and chips, and just let people make what they want as they feel hungry. I assume you're going to be at this for a few hours.

As for beverages, coffee might be a good option. Beer is good, or possibly rye.

For movies, I agree that Peter Jackson is good to include, with the unrated version of Dead Alive. Roger Corman should also be represented, probably by Death Race 2000 - lots of action, dark humour and some familiar faces. Hercules in New York has never failed me when initiating newbies. I'd also suggest an 80's post-apocalyptic or sword and sorcery flick, like The Blood of Heroes or one of the Ator movies. For 50s sci-fi action, perhaps the Blob or War of the Worlds, or if you want to get really bad, the Killer Shrews.

Another theme to do is monsters, starting with King Kong (the orginial version) and maybe Creature from the Black Lagoon.  Of course, a couple of b/ movies might not work, depending on the age group, in which case Them is good.  If their newbies, throw in an early Godzilla.  Finish up with Alien or Predator, or ?

I prefer beer (Sam Adams at the moment) and chips & salsa, though that won't sustain me over 4 movies.  Then a meal is needed, sandwiches or pizza, or a whole mess of hot wings.
