Ben & Jerry's ice cream, do you have a favorite?

Well, do you? I've been bouncing between 'Ameri-Cone Dream' and 'Phish Food', but tried 'Smores' last night and liked that quite a bit.

It's my sister's favorite ice cream, but I don't know what flavor. The one and first time I tried it, we were on a tour together in New England, and there was a Ben & Jerry's in the town, where the tour group had stopped for lunch. My sister and I went in and ordered ice cream. I don't know now what flavors, but whatever mine was, I couldn't eat it. It was too rich for my taste.

Oatmeal Cookie Chunk. It is one of their more rare flavors. It is awesome.

I've never actually had it. They have a rather big selection to choose from, but quite honestly, hippie's scare me and all I can think of when I think of Ben and Jerry is hippies. And the cutesy names for stuff. "Cherry Garcia", "Ameri-Cone Dream", etc. Turns me off to trying them.

"Americone-Dream" is good. I also enjoy "Karamel Sutra", "Pistachio, Pistachio", "Butter Pecan", "Vanilla Heath Bar Crunch", and "Peanut Butter Cup". They used to have "Wavy Gravy" (named after the Woodstock icon). They discontinued it, then it got voted back in by consumers . . . but was soon discontinued again. I can't remember what was in it, but I'm sure I bought it several times and enjoyed it.

I haven't eaten Ben & Jerry's in ages, but I went through a phase where I craved that peanut butter cup ice cream... SO good.

I got three favorites that I cycle through when buying Ben and Jerry's. Those are Phish Food, Chunky Monkey, and Strawberry Cheesecake. Only problem is if I get a pint of Phish Food, I have to hide it from my youngest daughter because she will eat the whole pint in one sitting before I can even get a taste of it.

I try to avoid "poisonous" foods like ice cream...

BUT, have recently been way off my self-imposed diet and have indulged absurdly in Ben & Jerry's like Karamel Sutra, New York Super Fudge Chunk, Vanilla Heath Bar Crunch, Coffee Heath Bar Crunch... oh I am so bad... but that ice cream is so good!

The hippiness of Ben & Jerry's also scares me off. I don't think I've ever tried it, I'm afraid it would taste like drugs and birkenstocks. Also, the few times I've been in a Ben & Jerry's store, I noticed they don't have the big tubs of ice cream out where you can see like other ice cream places. That's just shady.

Actually, I just had my first bad experience with Ben & Jerry's. A few days ago, my wife bought a container of Cherry Garcia. When we opened it, the ice cream had freezer burn all the way to the bottom of the container. We checked the expiration date and it still had a long life ahead of it. We ended up throwing it away rather than bringing it back to the supermarket. I'm sure if I contacted Ben & Jerry's they'd at least send me a coupon for a replacement.
