Anyone else been watching it? I wasn't too crazy about the first episode/part because they had a bad habit of showing you something interesting and then not going back to it for a long time. I wanted to know more about the crashed saucer, but they kept following all the other people. I was also left with a ton of questions, like; The ship looked like it crashed at a pretty steep angle, so what was with the area with the burning trees? Since that area didn't look like it was anywhere near where the ship crashed, how did the alien end up there? How did the military transport a saucer 50+ feet in diameter to the air base without anyone seeing it? How did the alien on the farm look like the guy in the comic book before he even saw it? How did the other aliens know where to find him and at exactly the right time? Why do single saucers appear to break up into 3 lights? Why was the alien on the farm able to look human and hold completely normal conversations, but the one at the base just looked alien, communicated through images and apparently killed himself in the process? Personally, I would have been happier if they'd left out the whole alien lover angle and just had the woman on the farm abducted and inpregnated.

I liked the second and third parts more, but they still didn't answer any of the questions I had.

i've  been following---have it on while i'm doing other things. my opinion is it is pretty slow...there' s JUST enough story and action to keep it tolerable but on the whole it comes across as a stretched out X-files ep.

this next part...5...will determine if i'm going to watch anymore...there really isn't much on tv anyway...although, since i've already watched the first four, i might as well at least tape the remaining shows and watch them if i get bored...

as for your observations/questions, i've had several myself. hopefully they'll be answered and aren't just annoying plot holes...

i do think this would be better off in hour long episodes instead.

I would like to watch it, but it would interfere with other shows I watch during the time slot. And I figure it's 20 hours, so there has to be lots of padding, e.g., boring crap. The few times I've flipped over I've seen some downright terrible acting. Did they seek out the stiffest people they could?

You do know that each episode airs three times a night at 9pm, 11pm and 1am, right? Plus each one repeats the following day at 7pm, and this weekend, they aired the first five episodes from 11am to 9pm both days. I imagine that they'll probably repeat them all next weekend too.

I thought the first episode, while effects heavy, had the chore of establishing the characters and setting.  Expository episodes are always difficult to pull off, but they did a fine job overall.

Episodes 2 and 3 were excellent, I thought, as I really dug the villain character.  A miniseries like this is only as good as the antagonists, and I applaud the performance by Joel Gretsch.  He pretty much carried the series.

The 4th episode was the weakest, by far.  It felt like it didn't belong in the arch of the story, it was just a detour the filmmakers chose to take to stretch the series out to 10 chapters.  Some might appreciate the more traditional horror elements, but this one didn't appeal to me.

I'll catch the 5th and 6th episodes tonight, as the action is picking up pace now that they've come to present day.

I recommend the series for any sci fi fan; warts and all.

I thought it was pretty good for a TV movie. It is cool to see Spielburg return to his roots on television. It was o k  not the greatest thing I have ever seen, but interesting enough to keep my interest
