Remember when they promised to only do a trilogy?   :drink:

From what I've read, it was intended all along to be one long story and to have seven movies made out of it.
Personally, I like all of the Saw films.

That's not what anybody said when the first one was new and they were just announcing sequels.  Sounds like George Lucas and his claim that he had virtually everything planned from day one.

Ugh.  I thought the first Saw sucked so I stopped there.  I picture the series eventually turning into something like The Land Before Time series.  Once its theatrical incarnations are done with it'll continue indefinitely with straight-to-video sequels.  Possiblility of becoming a musical is low, but who's to say!

Reading around the internets, it appears Tobin Bell (along with some great production design, he's the only thing I like much about the films) says his character will be around for eight total films.

**SPOILERS**

Does anyone else find it ridiculous there will be FIVE SEQUELS with Jigsaw in them when he died in the third film?

**END**

Another thing I read was other crew people have signed on for a total ten films.  Man.  Also, unadjusted for inflation, Saw is the top grossing horror franchise EVER.

I dunno, I actually like the oddness of such a plot element, kinda "Dr. Mabuse-y" :P

Anyhow, I thought the first 3 were great, 4 was just OK but 5 was pretty awful any way you slice it... From what I hear part 6 will be a step up but going past that could be iffy.

Since I'm honestly a fan of the series and franchises in general, I'd gladly go see VII, VIII, even XX :P

For the latest on the fifth installment in Don Coscarelli's Phantasm saga.

I haven't seen "Saw" to "Saw VI," and I don't plan on seeing them. I have no plans to make an exception for "Saw VII."

The sad thing is I'll probably wind up watching Saw 7 in some form.  I just... ugh, I feel my soul blackening every time I pay to watch one because it's like I'm ringing the bell that makes the dogs salivate.
