The concept might have been alright; no doubt at all that they must have 'worked' on paper.  But the end result - little people running around in poorly-fitting faux fur costumes for cute-sy comic relief - just *jarred* badly.   Perhaps the whole Ewok idea simply was not done justice.  They struck me as a heavy-handed (and half-hearted) attempt to 'soften' the movie and bring back some of the child-like fun the story line might have been lacking. I cheered and laughed as much as anyone else when the little guys took on the Imperial forces and won - but I winced a good deal too whenever their antics were just too corny, even for Star Wars.

Rumor has it that the Ewoks were all incinerated when the wreckage of the Death Star started falling out of orbit.  One can only hope.

I agree in hindsight they were not all that bad considering what lay in the future for the franchise. I would gladly endure 10 Ewok movies before anything involving Jar Jar Binks and Midiclorians  :buggedout:

The Ewoks were ridiculous.  A legion of Palpatine's best troops (according to him) were on that moon and were taken out by teddy bears with rocks and spears?  F-Lucas for that man.
