Well its the big match up for the week for me. BEOWOLF vs THE POSTMAN.

BEOWOLF (1999) - I liked this medieval fantasy type film. It has some slow moments, but overall it had some good images and sound to make it work as a film. Beowolf does one to many backflips, but this dosn't  take away from the film. The weapons make the man in this film. The two main women in this film are something else. Nice outfits and fighters on horseback. Equal in some ways to 13TH WARRIOR and better in my opinion than BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF.

THE POSTMAN - This 3 hour film could have been better. A post apocalyptic story were a band of letter carriers start to change the world. A measly reluctant post apocalyptic messiah starts something, but hesitates to fullfill his phony identity. The bad guy wasn't that effective either. The best part of the film was the female who is with him. She had the best role. This film had some nice scenic shots, but it dosn't make it interesting. The message of the film is weak also. I must  confess to having watched the entire film. Without the Costner character the film might work. MAD MAX is much much better.

BEOWOLF beats out THE POSTMAN

***** Quite possibly the most fantastic understatement I have seen yet on this messageboard!

If the Beowolf you are talking about is the one with Christopher Lambert, I agree with you.  For what it attempted to be, it was a job pretty well done.  The blonde in that movie was Leila Roberts - she played Molly Mounds (Steve Buscemi's stripper girlfriend) in Armageddon.  Unfortunately, with the seizure-inducing editing in that movie, you never got much of a look at her.

I watched "Beowulf" for a student's essay, and I still regret. The first minutes were excellent, with all that ass kicking and the techno music, but the rest of it was the most boring thing I have ever seen.

About "The postman", it doesn't make justice to the novel it is inspired in, but has some entertaining bits.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
