The Burgomaster

My DVD purchases of Phantasm II, III, and IV arrived today, so this could be an "All Phantasm" Friday night.  I'm not sure if this post belongs in the "good" or "bad" movie forum, because I haven't seen Phantasm II in a long, long time (and I don't remember much about it) and I have never seen III or IV.  But I'm looking forward to this "big event."

I like the films. No matter the descent into un-logic and schlock after the second film, they all are pleasantly scary and honestly made b-horror films.

But now, I'd just love if Coscarelli stopped beating around the bush and finished the series with a bang. And a coherent plot, if possible. Instead, I heard he plans to remake the first film.  :hatred:
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

The films all seem to work towards a logical ending and then pull a gotchya at the end, which ultimately leaves you p**sed off.  Well, it leaves me p**sed off.  I love the first one and the second is okay for action, but the 4th, the one I've heard so many fans call brilliant and the best of the bunch, was boring, pointless and made me want to find everyone involved and give them savage paper cuts across their fingertips. They could wrap the series up by having everyone killed and the Tall Guy tossing their bodies into the transporter thingie.  In the end, I think we'll be treated to Michael waking up and the whole damn thing will start over....again.  Another example of "I've got a great idea but nowhere to go with it".

The Burgomaster

Well, I watched II, III, and IV on Friday and Saturday.  It seems like Coscarelli is making up the story as he goes along and even he isn't sure what is really happening or how it will end.  Each sequel was less interesting than the one before it.  I think the original is a classic, part II is a decent sequel, part III is okay and seems to take the story in a different direction, part IV wasn't scary at all . . . and I'm getting tired of Angus Scrimm saying, "Boyyyy."

Psycho Circus

I've seen them all and find that they get progressively worse as the series goes on. I still think the original is a classic, as Burgo also said and the sequels are easily watchable, but I don't think I'd be interested in another one or a remake.
