Andrew kindly made me a moderator recently which makes me very proud, but I would have liked to see the words GLOBAL MODERATOR OF UNDERPANTS under my name.  :teddyr:
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

I never got any elitist cliquey vibes, but I'm socially clueless and inept, virtually and in real life.

That pretty much covers my position on the issue as well  :teddyr:

I've been getting that cliquey vibe on this board for awhile now.
For many years it wasn't there.  Then it just seemed to slowly creep up within the last year or so.
I'm not trying to start trouble by bringing it up, but it is how I feel at the moment.

Maybe it's just me.  Maybe it isn't.
Ash (goodness I still think of you as "Ashthecat"), I honestly think that what you may be reacting to is the series of 'in-jokes' that have developed.  Continuations of previous conversations -  often a keyword or phrase - that creep into (and divert?) other posts.  It is easy to get feeling 'left out' when such references are made; but nobody is intentionally excluding anyone.  Jump in, the water's fine and there is room for everybody!

Hmmm, this is something that I can do.  There is an option for custom titles for post count groups - so I set it that anyone with more than 100 posts can create a custom title.  It's under "Profile" then "Forum Profile Information."  It doesn't replace "Frightening Fanatic of Horrible Cinema," but appears directly above it.

Now, excuse me--I must get back to the mods-only part of the board. We're streaming Girls Gone Wild - Spring Break tonight.  :buggedout:

You sir, are not helping!

Can I please have BLACK text with 4 or 5 cans of soda under my name? jk

I don't feel a a vibe. I think the mods and web masters are all cool.

But perhaps everyone should just have slime drops, vice a difference between slimes and stars?  Or are the stars better?

:bouncegiggle: Oh, I'm gonna have fun with that. Cheers Andrew.

I think what's going on, is the people who use this site everyday (or there abouts) feel more bonded and connected than those johnny-come-lately types and would like a little recognition. Something on their profile that says they're a little special.

Being a moderator says you're a real part of this site, or that your opinion of them is high enough that would would trust them to do the things that moderators have to do...and some (lets be honest, it's just Ash  *) may feel that they're not quite a part of it. Like they haven't earned what the others have earned. One solution is to make eveyone (at least the regulars) a moderator....hmmmm.....I wonder how succesful that would be ?

The problems is, if there is some sort of reward (or whatever) system then there really will be two tiers of posters.
And no one wants that.

Oh, one last thing.

Do more radio !!!!
You're brilliant !

I do like the stars rather than the slimes. But then there's also the skulls?

QuoteIt doesn't mean I don't like Darksider or skullbat...just haven't had a chance to connect with them yet.
And after all we've been through Paula... :bluesad:

So it looks like the general consensus is keep things the way they are which I agree with.

For example, I have traded posts and karma with Circus and Doggett more-I see connections forming there.

Aww.....

We will happily have "connection"s with you !  :teddyr:

I think you're already part of the gang !
Sometimes you can just tell which posters are gonna stick around.

Anyone seen ghouck ?  :bluesad:

It's not that Newt.  It's something else. (thank you for your input, though)

When I wrote to Andrew telling him how I felt about this, I knew that either he or I would eventually ask everyone here on this board what they personally felt.
I predicted that most everyone would say that there's nothing wrong and there are no cliques here and I was right.

However, I still can't shake this feeling that something has changed.
You don't spend almost 10 years posting regularly on a board without really, really getting to know the ins and outs of every aspect of it.
I can't put my finger on it exactly, but it's definitely there.
Kind of a "sixth sense feeling" so to speak.  This forum seems somehow different than it did a year ago.

I think every board has some of that clique-ish vibe eventually seeping in even if there was no intention of it happening at the forefront. I definitely don't feel a part of any clique here myself but I can't say that I haven't felt a bit a part of a clique on other boards (which perhaps was not for the best as I think I prefer more freedom for users personally - to the point it doesn't become trolling, abuse or spam), even protected somewhat by others even if perhaps criticism was valid and sometimes even argued in a thoughtful way.
