Ash

So did you all have a great Christmas??

I did.

Better than the year before last .  (2001)

I got Stephen King's new novel "From a Buick 8" (which I am almost finished with...so far an EXCELLENT read) and "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" Encyclopedia of the Bizarre.
Both in hardcover.

Cool!

I also got my first aquarium!!  (10 gallons...nothing spectacular)

My parents were also generous enough to include all the usual amenities like fake plants, cool decorations and a gift card to Petco so I could buy fish for it.

My parents always tell me, "We didn't spend that much on you this X-mas 'cause you're getting older now (I'm 28) and we feel that you're little brother & sister (he's 22 & she's 20) should have more...after all, you we're the first and you got lots of gifts before they we're born."

I guess that went out the window!

LOL!!
Thanks Mom & Dad!

What did you get for Christmas?

I got the 6 DVD set of the Fellowship of the Ring. WooHoo!!  Between traveling to and fro from Va. and St. Pete FLA (God I really hate I-95) I've only watched the National Geographic DVD, it's pretty cool.  Can't wait to have some friends over and watch the full FOTR film.  I got to see Two Towers over the holidays, for free (thanks to a niece who works in a movie theater).  Great flick.  I also saw Star Blech, why do they have to hit us over the head with "Data, the non-human, shows us what it means to be human" all the time. . .

Hm.  Wasn't there a thread about this already further down?

What the heck.

The missus really came thru this year -- I got:

1 game -- The Lord of the Rings edition of Risk

1 book -- trade paperback of Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire

2 CDs -- The Who/Live at Leeds Deluxe edition (breathtaking) and Bob Dylan's Live 1975 (very welcome as this was the first Dylan tour I ever saw)

4 videos -- (basically she gave me her okay and I ordered them 'cause she would have had no idea what to order):  Sex Kittens Go To College (Mamie van Doren, Louis Nye, Jackie Coogan!) (1960), The Trip (1967), Psych-Out (1968) and Wild in the Streets (also 1968).

All in all a wonderfully frivolous haul after a VERY tough year.

Would she have ordered that for you?

Probably.   She's pretty tolerant of my arrested adolescent tendencies....

An aunt gave me a VHS copy of "Frankenstein"  with Boris Karloff.  Others gave me a half dozen books on how to draw.  Not that I didn't ask...
Still, no MST3K dvds.  Not even 'the creeping terror'... sniff.
Better luck next time.  Happy holidays to all!

Return Of The Living Dead - My copy's f**ked up, though. The widescreen side of the disc is just P&S without the "This has been modified..." message before the opening scenes. Still a great movie, and the beauty of the widescreen transfer is that, even in P&S, you don't miss all that much.

"24" season one - Mmmmmm..."24"...

Got a few other things, including my DIGITAL CAMERA OF ALL MIGHTYNESS (2nd only to my Ghostbusters toys for the X-Mas of '89 when I was 3 on my "all time best gifts" list), and plenty of gift certificates.

And as the world began crumbling down
Nobody around seemed to care

Funk, E.

I got a P38 alulinium space modulator! 8-D

Hmm, guess i'll put my list on this bizarro thread.

1 DVD player from someone i've never met who lives across the globe..uhhhh..yeah it was a suprise to me too. (And non refundable). hoorah for online friends!

DVD's include "Terminator", "Minority Report", "Lord of the Rings", "As Good as it Gets", "Amelie", "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind"  (actually thruth be told I bought those for myself for christmas) ;-)

And the award for the present with the most annoyance goes to:
The christmas socks with the numerous bells attatched. And I thought "toe-socks" were as bad as footwear could get.

I got a Lexmark Print Trio printer/scanner/copier. Now I just need to get a USB adaptor to plug into my motherboard so that I can hook it up.

>I also got my first aquarium!!

My mother used to have a tank with goldfish in it. They liked to jump out of the tank and die on the rug.

>>My mother used to have a tank with goldfish in it. They liked to jump out of the tank and die on the rug.<<

Maybe we should learn from our mothers. I remember my mother telling me how she once owned a variety of fish and began to notice some were mysteriously "dissapearing".

Unbeknownst to her, one of those fish was an angel fish. (they don't eat just fish food) I think when she found out she mentioned something about the little guy finding Jesus down the commode  ;-)

BLANK TAPES!! I got a TON of blank tapes for the dubber in me! Now I can sell, sell, SELL! dubs of whatever you want. And, to go along with said dubbing tendancies, I got a set of gold tipped, corosion resistent cables that should make my tape to tape transfers ten times better than my old RCA cables.

-Cowboy Bebop DVD collection

-Simpsons: Seasons one and two!! Mmmmmm... forbidden Simpsons.

-A new TV/VCR!!! My old 1980's 13 inch, UHF knob turn, simulated wood paneling crap in a case wasn't cutting it anymore, so I UPGRADED!! MORE POWER!!

And a lot of small stuff like candy, Simpson's daily trivia calendar, gift cards, and money to develop the 5 rolls of film that have been sitting on my dresser for the past three years.

i gots some chocolate / candy and the like, and for my birthday/xmas present I got a 27" "super-flat" screen. By Super Flat I mean its not plasma, but its alot flatter than other tvs, but still not completely flat. But AWESOME though in my room, also I got these movies:

The Devil Bat VHS - Boris Karloff! haven't watched it yet though.
The Terror VHS - My mom bought me the DVD of this a few weeks before xmas, and then forgot about it and bought me the VHS too. I didn't mention that, or the fact that, that makes 3 copys of the movie in our house and I still haven't watched it, I guess this means i'll have to eventually.

The Exorcist DVD - "The version you  havent seen" - Haven't seen it yet (i know I know, pathetic) but this gives me reason to finally check it out.

Hell Night DVD - One of the better 80s body cout flicks.

and

Better Off Dead DVD - Love it love it LOVE IT! my favorite 80s comedy hands down!

Didn't do much for Christmas, what with the wedding three days later. Spent the day cleaning and cooking. Still blown away by the wedding gifts though. Pity it only happens once in a lifetime.

A few people couldn't resist the temptation to buy a Christmas gift, myself included. I did a digital painting/photo composite a while back, and finally had it output and mounted for Lori's office. When she found out I got her something, she went out and bought me a new sander.

I also got Snatch on DVD, The Rolling Stones' Forty Licks, and the two of us got a George Forman style grill.
