Thanksgiving Movies

I was just curious and wanted to ask: Does anybody know of any Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving related movies out there? They can be either bad or good.

As of right now I can only think of Blood Freak because of the killer turkey guy.

By the way does anybody have any Thanksgiving movie traditions?

I don't but I think it might be fun to come up with one!

Yeah, Blood Freak gets a rotation around this time each year.

But there are lots of "turkeys" out there, just not many movies about turkeys.

I got nothing. But Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!!!!!!!

Comedy Central used to run MST3K marathons on Thanksgiving ("Turkey Day," get it?) So I always associate those movies with Thanksgiving.

HANNAH AND HER SISTERS (1986) one of the greatest films yet made, is framed by three Thanksgiving Day dinners. The film is about being thankful, and regretful. There's no love for WOODY ALLEN on this website, but he's made many funny movies, and even a few masterpieces. This one is the apex of his art.

I looked that movie up and it's based on a book I used to love as an elementary schooler!
I think the book had the same title.
I also remember liking the author's (Daniel Pinkwater) other books.

hehe... Woody Allen and Funny Movies sounds like an oxymoron... :)

Sorry, I think Woody Allen is overrated and this is before he married his daughter (or adopted daughter)

Like I said, no love. We could also talk about ROMAN POLANSKI's fascinatingly lurid personal life.

Doesn't mean he didn't make good movies. WOODY ALLEN's INTERIORS disproves the idea that all his films are amusing, as in, "funny." If you suggest "funny" in some other way, I could see that also, and INTERIORS is certainly "funny" but not very amusing, if watchable.
The point? HANNAH AND HER SISTERS is a masterpiece, probably the best American film of the 1980s, and it's sad closed doors offer no view.

hehe... as I said I never like Woody Allen movies even before his "Strange/Personal Love Story" I'm pointing it out because I know people are turned off of Woody Allen because of his "Strange/Personal Love Story" and has effective their judgment on his films.

I'd tried to like Woody Allen movies but each one usually fails... Although I did like some parts of "The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985)" then the movie drags and becomes a chore to watch... Which is Woody's problem with filmmaking (he has the Joke but he keeps playing the punchline until the joke becomes old and unfunny)

ROMAN POLANSKI on the other hand is an intresting subject. He has established himself as a great filmmaker before the "child rape" and it plays with the movie viewers emotions because his crime was bad but his movies are so good. Also playing on the emotions is the death of his Wife and unborn child by the hands of the Manson Family. So we do feel sorry for him... but it doesnt justify the crime...

Maybe if Roman Polanski had Victor Salva's Laywer he wouldnt be hiding in Europe for 30+ years.

Although, the Woody Allen thing is weard its not Illegal since the woman he married is not his actual daughter.

I know I'm past the Thanksgiving window at this point, but I've got a couple you can hang onto for next year.

First, though, I'm with you, Allhallowsday, Hannah and Her Sisters is great, I always pull that out and watch it every couple months. Really fantastic flick.

Another great Thanksgiving movie is The House of Yes, which is about a guy who brings his girlfriend home to meet his family over Thanksgiving, but when he comes home and spends time with his family he begins to slip into the emotional familial roles he lived out as a child, and also falls into his old habit of reenacting the JFK assassination with his sister as a sort of pyschosexual ritual. Very funny movie so long as you like your humor dark and awkward.

Also, unless I'm mistaken I think that The Wiz starts out with a Thanksgiving dinner, although it's been a few years since I've seen it and it could have been Christmas.
