Mr. DS

Well we visited my parents and ended up having to swing by my son's doctor.  He has a double ear infection...the yuletide is currently getting brighter...um yeah.

Is that where the phrase "This is where the magic happens", comes from.  :teddyr:

No, in all seriousness, I hope young DarkSider gets better.

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far~ ruminations

Mr. DS

I simply have too many issues with the Wizard Of Oz's plot.

Whoo Hoo!!

My (soccer) team also won today after a run of 11 eleven games without a victory. They've drawn 18 games so far this season, which I think is some sort of record (not a good one I might add), but only lost two. They're 6th in the league and in a cup semi-final, yet the club has sacked the manager last night!?

Such as...?
Way too many like I said but heres one.

Well, first off the Ruby Slippers should belong to the Wicked Witch Of The West.  I mean how would someone feel in real life if a person 1.) off'd their sister and on top of it 2.)took their inheritance.  That and wasn't it kind of cold of Glenda to send Dorothy on this long life threatening trip when she knew Dorothy had the power all along to go home.

Yeah I know this all builds the plot of a long life lesson journey where one meets friends.  And maybe the whole "When In Rome" analogy works for Oz.  But if I were Dorothy I'd be a bit PO'd at Glenda.

They finally got beat?  And by the Cowboys no less?  That warms my heart.

For me, what did it was the moral. (If I ever go looking for my heart's desire, I wont look any further than my own backyard, or I never really lost it to begin with") In other words...stay dumb and stuck, kiddies. Dont try to seek out a better life for yourself, live at home and leech off your parents forever. I find it ironic that the message actually runs counter to the whole "Somewhere over the rainbow," song, since the character is essentially wishing for something she'll later regret.

Havent read it, but I think the novel Wicked is supposed to comment on some of the injustices faced by the wicked witch.

I find ingredient labels on food items scarier than horror novels.

Like check out what's in Cool Whip (Or Cool Huwip, to say it like Stewie Griffin):

WATER, CORN SYRUP, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (COCONUT AND PALM KERNEL OILS), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, LESS THAN 2% OF SODIUM CASEINATE (FROM MILK), NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, XANTHAN AND GUAR GUMS, POLYSORBATE 60, POLYSORBATE 65, SORBITAN MONOSTEARATE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, BETA CAROTENE (COLOR).

Some weird stuff to put in your body, if you think about it. Especially when real whipped cream is so much better. I dunno, I am just always reading labels, kinda compulsively, and they freak me out.
What does not kill me makes me stranger.
