"Digital Duke" by The Duke Ellington Orchestra

Not really a great recording, but contains the best version of "Sophisticated Lady" I've heard

Hey, REV, have you heard this CD?  It has the "original" recording of "Sophisticated Lady" - I'm listening to it now.  Quite nice.

Got a CD that contains The Beach Boys albums Today! and Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) that I've been really loving.

John Fahey - Christmas with John Fahey Vol. II

I found this for $2 at Garden Ridge of all places!  I've listened to and enjoyed some other Fahey albums but this is the first one I've bought.  It's got a few classic Christmas tunes but it has an original bit that's over 20 minutes long that sounds kind of unsettling at times and very lovely at others.  Neat.

I have not... although it's possible that version shows up on some compilation I have.  The "Digital Duke" album is by the Duke Ellington Orchestra led by Mercer Ellington after Duke died.  Critics seem to like it but I don't think it really swings; the beat is too mechanical, not lively.  The bari sax solo by Charlie Owens on "Sophisticated Lady" is to die for.

I listened what I think is a better overall album, with Duke actually on it:

Great tune, and I love the Camper van Beethoven cover as well.
