How appropriate that the same day that UFO Film's PYTHON 2 clutters store shelves that my DRAGON FIGHTER review goes online. Some of you actually liked this film. Some of you must have far more tolerance for uninspired crap than I do. Give me BENEATH LOCH NESS any day of the week. At least that one is laughably bad. Anyway, you can read my dissection and utter contempt for the awfulness that is DRAGON FIGHTER at www.nowff.com as well as my year end list of the 10 movies I didn't pay to see in 2002.

Next month, at long last, my THUNDER OF GIGANTIC SERPENT review + a couple other foriegn monster movies you've probably never heard of.

As it as been adressed before, the movie dragon fighter is not good, but damn enjoyable. the acting is rancid and the plot cliche' but Hell, it was fun and it really worked for me because the dragon had me going the whole time.

Well, at least you admit it was a bad movie. One of your previous posts about the movie actually had me worried that someone actually thought it was well made film.

When it comes to Phillip roth, I never sayu the film is good. but generally he makes entertaining throw away stuff. that would be the case with Boa, Interceptor froce 1 and 2, and even Epoch (he co-wrote) was a little fun.

I liked DRAGON FIGHTER. You can't possibly be serious about preffering BENEATH LOCH NESS.

Yes, I am serious. BENEATH LOCH NESS was so unbelievably awful that I found it downright hysterical. It is so ridiculous that its fun to watch it just to MST3K. That's why I prefer it to DRAGON FIGHTER, which was just so damn generic. Its just another ALIEN rip-off with a tiny dragon that doesn't do anything but run around through the hallways for 85% of the movie while boring characters react in a cliched and boring manner. I expect a bit more creativity to go into a dragon movie than just making yet another ALIEN rip-off. I think that's probably why the movie really got on my bad side. I'm sick to death of "people trapped in an isolated confined area and being picked off one-by-one by a monster/slasher" movies. Put the damn genre to rest already and come up with a new premise.

DRAGON FIGHTER, BOA, PYTHON 2, & SPIDERS 2 are all almost exactly the same in terms of plot and execution and they all came out within a relatively close proximity of each other. Then there are movies like SABERTOOTH, CROCODILE 2, OCTOPUS 2, ARACHNID, BLOOD SURF, RAPTOR, & THE RATS that also play out in very similar means but with some slight variations. The point is that these movies keep coming out back-to-back and they keep recycling the same damn plot. Its either an ALIEN or JAWS wannabe. Enough already!

BENEATH LOCH NESS was atrocious but at least it was ridiculous enough to laugh at. TAIL STING wasn't a great movie but it's tongue-in-cheek tone made it seem like a breath of fresh air.

The whole "nature/science run amok" genre got run so far into the ground this past year that the whole genre needs to either be given a major overhaul or put out to pasture for quite some time.
