I often don't bother to get a cart, and go strolling up to the checkout with an overflowing basket that weighs about fifty pounds. Funny, I never think the list is that big.

Ha!  I do the same thing.

In South Africa, shopping carts are either too big or too small, so I end up getting confused, but yes, I return the shopping carts every time.*

shopping cart, buggy, basket, they have a few names. When I used to work at wally-mart, I was the poor soul who had to go out in a rain storm of snow to bring the carts in. Now the plastic shopping carts at K-Mart, they bounce good off a lightpole when they are going 40 miles an hour. I usually put the cart back in the cart corral.

What's a "shopping cart"?
City thing?
Nah, I'm just being silly.  And I usually return them, but don't use 'em much.

If I ever had to use one (I never get many things at once), I'm with someone else who needs a lot of things.  And I will ALWAYS put it back where it goes, because I used to have to get those when I was a kid working for those stores.  In rain/snow/sleet/whatever, I'd have to get long ropes with hooks and grab about 8-10 of those buggers and wheel 'em CAREFULLY down a hilly lot and put 'em inside the store.  So I know how frustrating it can be for employees to have to track down the ones that are scattered all over the place.

Always. I live in a small town...I know most of the store people. Plain rude not to.

I always do.  Though I may not take them back next to the exit if I park far away, I will usually take them to the return cart area.

I'm a reformed cart returner... I will try and put it away, but I confess I have put it out of the way oif teh store is sily about having one return spot somehwere at the other side of the lot.

I almost always return the cart to the collection point in the parking lot. I usually will take a cart from the lot in with me when I know I'll need one for shopping.
