Sad news: Meinhardt Raabe, the Munchkin coroner in THE WIZARD OF OZ, has passed away at 94.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/10/movies/10raabe.html

Another aspect of Raabe's career is almost forgotten today - He was an advertisement icon for years for Oscar Mayer Wieners. He was known as Little Oscar, "the World's Smallest Chef," and spent nearly 30 years touring the country in the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Allhallowsday

I saw this on the news and was delighted to learn he had been alive for all these years, had a successful career and a long marriage, and lived to be 94!  Goodnight MEINHARDT, the coroner may declare death, yet he will live forever, over the rainbow.

I loved that guy in Wizard and his little song is probably my fav from the movie.  RIP and congrats on a long successful life.

I had no clue that he was still alive, probably believed him long past when my subconscious even considered it.  RIP, and I'll echo the comment that it is good to hear he lived a long and full life.

Did he actually sing?  I'd hazard a guess and say he was dubbed over, but I don't actually know.

There was another munchkin who was a St. Louis resident.  He was one of the lollipop guild.  Also died in the past year.  I think there are only two or three munchkins left.
