I remember seeing this movie (or might have been a television series) in the end of 1980's or in early 1990's.

The reason why I'm still being haunted by this film, is the scary looking alien bad guy that had its mouth above its eyes.

Also in the movie, there was a human cop of some sorts that was chasing the alien. The chase took place on Earth, maybe in some small town.

The key point in solving being the unique features of the alien, I hope there's someone who knows the name of this movie. Thanks!

Hmm... maybe "The Last Starfighter?" There's an alien bounty hunter in it that goes after the film's hero on Earth. It is pretty fugly, and ends up doing battle with the robotic clone of the "Last Starfighter" before getting blowed up real good.

Is this the thing that has haunted you since childhood?

Wow, great thinking on that one, Jordan.  The alien assassins (zandozan) are pretty freaky, and is a good possibility.

Yes, that's it! (Funnily, I remembered the movie to have been much darker, but I guess that's what you get when you watch movies like this as a young child. :P)

Thank you Jordan (and Andrew for the additional information)!

PS. According to iMDb a sequel to The Last Starfighter called Starfighter is slated for 2010 release, so this is the perfect year to have finally found out the title. :)

Glad to help... not so glad to hear that there's a sequel coming out this year.... unless its on par with Tron: Legacy!  :teddyr:
