So if a movie's in public domain, does that mean if I had a videocamera, I could do some type of Horror host puppet show around something like Night of the Living Dead or The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923)??

Yes.  But would anyone watch?

Just a thing I never really thought of...Dana did have sex with Louis in Ghostbusters right?   At least while they were posessed to bring out Gozer.  Could Oscar in the second one be their love child???  :buggedout:

The new Doctor Who premieres tonight on BBC America.

That new Doctor looks a bit young and cheeky - but maybe that's 'cause I'm getting old and grumpy.

I have never understood DR. WHO.  My wife is watching it right now, and I don't get any of it.

The old ones were wonderfully cheesy sci-fi.  I can't get into the new ones.  It's like somebody threw a whole bunch of money at something that drew all its charm from the fact that it was low budget.

Why is it that when our daughter cranks some ABBA up to 10, she's totally cool and retro, yet when my wife and I do the same thing, we're a couple of old farts?

So would Louis be the father, or Vinz Clortho? Did Oscar inherit any of Vinz or Zuul's powers? Is that why Vigo was so desperate to get his body in part 2?

You see, this is why you're not supposed to think too hard about this kind of crap, or else it keeps you up at night. Damn fridge logic...

I was just reading in Parade magazine about a college that's powered completely by garbage, or, more accurately, methane produced by garbage breaking down from a nearby dump and then being pumped over to the campus power station.

Course, you know, I'm willing to bet every day on that campus some jackass in a dorm says something like, "This campus is powered by methane?  Well, hey, let me add my contribution!" [fart]

Yeah, the new ones make me want to puke. I thought that they did a good job when they first brought it back with Christopher Eccleston, as he was considered a strange choice (lack of scarves me thinks). But it should have just been a few episodes really. Old Dr. Who was scarier and had more charm and atmosphere, now it's all glossy and soulless, like watching a trailer for Wing Commander or some garbage like that.

*I reckon I should have posted this on "Against The Grain".

*I will.

I love the new Doctor Who series. Granted, unlike the old series, the stories rarely truly stand alone anymore and are more a part of a huge complex plot thread that stretches throughout the whole series. I think I also like Eccleston the best of the newer Doctors but David Tennat eventually grew on me too as a somewhat more eccentric and traditional Doctor. Suspect eventually Matt Smith will grow on me too. There's still lots of great individual characters who factor into the stories and it's this element that I like best of all about the show not to mention getting to see new adventures with the Daleks, Cybermen and the Master. The show does at least acknowledge the classic series in its episodes when an American style show probably wouldn't have at all. The fun cheese factor of the old classic show is missed though. I definitely miss the old low budget traditional FX but hey this new Doctor Who is one of the very few new shows on TV I actually find watchable.
