I saw this one on the horror shelf of the video shop down the street.

I've thought about dropping the $2.00 to rent it but I thought I'd get a few of your opinions first.  (I'm very frugal!...No...I take that back...I'm a cheap bastard!)

I've heard that it's an Italian made zombie flick.  Is this correct?

I checked the I.M.D.B. and read all the reviews on it and what I discovered was that about half loved it and half despised it.

What's it about and is it any good?

Brian Ringler

I didn't like it that much.  I thought the zombies looked good but overall the movie didn't keep my attention that well.

Paquita

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! its SO bad! and i mean BAD!!!! its not gross theres no boobs and its not even like they were trying to make a good movie so id feel bad and pretend it was good!  i thought it was gonna be really good too and got really sexcited cos the title is really good! butt tits bad! theres a rob zombie lookalike in it. and thats not cool... wait now im kinda remembering boobies. maybe theres some boobs. but they werent too memorable!

love colleen

SkullNinja

No boobs, but spend the $2. It's fairly amusing.

Scott

I didn't like it at all. I stopped the tape around the 20 or 30 minute mark. Totally uninteresting and a waste of time for even B-movie fans.

jmc

It's nothing like the Italian flicks of the 70s and 80s...it's a Full Moon flick, with I believe only 2 zombies in it.

ahab

i liked it. if your are a zombie fan get it. there are a ton of references to other movies. and any movie that asks "What would Bruce Cambell do?" can't be all that bad.

Shop Smart. Shop S-Mart.

Dave Parker, the guy who directed and wrote the movie (as well as acting in it as the convenience store clerk..."For that special, PERSONAL itch..."), is a huge old-school zombie fan. This movie has a lot of odes to classic zombie flicks (there's a scene that is obviously inspired by Return Of The Living Dead, for example, that mirrors the half-corpse interrorgation scene in ROTLD almost perfectly). And, as ahab said, any movie with the line "What would Bruce Campbell do?" can't be all bad.

Out of 10, I give it a 6.5. It's a real fun movie if you don't set your sights too high, and after seeing Hell Of The Living Dead (AKA Virus, AKA Night Of The Zombies...I hate Bruno Mattei), this looks like a damn masterpiece.

Oh, and Penis Flytrap is on the soundtrack. Penis Flytrap is a horrorcore punk band that writes songs mostly about zombies and classic horror movies. Dinah Cancer is the band's frontwoman. Her previous band, 45 Grave, did the song that is probably most remembered from Return Of The Living Dead: "Party Time." Who doesn't associate that song with ROTLD?

DO YA WANNA PARTY?! IT'S PARTY TIME!!

And as the world began crumbling down
Nobody around seemed to care

Scott

I did notice the Fulci lives bumber sticker on the car before ending this film.

jmc

Hey, anyone notice that "Partytime" also appears in HARDBODIES?  It's not performed by 45 Grave, though.

As bad as it is, HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD has more of the cheesy zombie movie spirit than this sad effort...plus, they could afford more than 2 zombies [albeit with bad makeup.]  I think had they gone for more zombies with less elaborate makeup THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING would have been a better flick.  Personally, I don't need to see a bunch of references to other, better films.  I'd rather watch those films in the first place!

When you consider how bad the median zombie flick is, this one doesn't come off so bad.  It's got some creativity to it, which helps a little to counterbalance the pitiful budget (it's a Full Moon flick made right before they switched over from film to digital).  There are certainly worse zombie films out there. Much, much worse.

Not saying much there....

Though I think it's not as good as JUNK, the Japanese zombie flick that came out in the late nineties.

Joe the Destroyer

Not a horrible film, but not great either.  I just saw it yesterday, and while there were a few parts that were enjoyable, I felt that I could never see this film again and be completely fine.  Though, the zombies in the movie were awesome!

"butt tits bad" would make a nice internet meme.
