Raffine

The mostly uncut Something Weird version of BLOODTHIRSTY BUTCHERS, Andy Milligan's take on the Sweeney Todd legend, to replace the old edited for TV, lousy print from Video Cart:

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Ordered it on Amazon.  I decided since I'm in the mood of "seeing what all the hoopla is about," I'd give this a try.

I saw part of this a while ago.  Looked kind of good if I remember correctly.  Good in a bad/good sense I mean.

I got this the other day and am proud to announce the infamous (and previously cut) BOOBIE IN THE MEATPIE scene is intact! Also present are several extended scenes of Sweeney and Tobias hacking away at department store mannequins filled with red paint.

Despite all that, the best (?) scene remains an almost 20 minute sequence in which various characters (including fan-favorite 'Corky the Wise Drag Queen') crowd into a single tiny set (filmed from a single camera set up) and scream and argue at each other in typical Milligan fashion.

Something Weird's print does look better than other releases, which only highlights the mis-matched and scratched film stock remains Milligan used.

This is not your Burton/Sondheim/Depp 'Sweeney Todd'. I'd like to see somebody make a musical out of this version.

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.
