Picked up this stephen king adaptation today for 6 bucks.

For another movie that involves little critters (I've seen a few lately unintentionally, including this and Strays etc) it wasn't TOO bad. So what WAS the monster in this movie. At first I thought it was a giant rat, then I saw that it had wings so I thought it was a giant Bat. THEN I saw it had a tail, so I thought rat again. What do you all think? Anyone read the short story it was based on? another thing I didn't really like is how there is no explanation on either what it is or where it came from. Wierd kinda. Anyway the climax was pretty good (the pepsi can part was predictable though). 5.5 / 6

I havent seen it, but it seems to me that some of the fear could be coming from not knowing what it is.

Some bats have small tails I believe, so it could be a bat

Not telling where it came from or what it was is a trademark Stephen King tool he often uses in his stories.

He likes to play on our fears of the unknown and insistence on answers when there are none.

I haven't seen it but I think I'll go rent it now that you've mentioned it.

I have to guess that it was a huge mutated bat.  On the other hand, the short story (along with some of King's others), is pretty much a reworking of a Lovecraft tail.  This one being "The Rats in the Walls."  It is a pretty severe reworking.

Ah, heck - it is a big darn beastie, no matter what.  I remember the ending song remix being sort of catchy too.

since the graveyard shift is a bunch of short stories, does this movie also contain some short films?

Anyone ever read the short story called the finger? It is about a finger that comes out of a toilet. It sounds bad, but it is good.

Actually Night Shift is the book of short Stories, Graveyard Shift is a 12 page story that is at best to be considered a pedestrian reworking of The Rats in the Walls. Stephen King can make some good shorts that I have seen, Night Shift has many good ones but Graveyard Shift the story is lame at best. The movie itself is more entertaining and strays away from the story enough to make a coherent plot for a feature film.

The Burgomaster

All I remember about this movie is that I had a headache when it was over.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

yeah the song on the credits was a funky little beat with quotes from the movie playing. It was one of the best parts of the movie I couldn't help but listen to it through the credits.
