Rented a double feature tonight while still in the middle of THE GATLING GUN. Anyway here are the two films that I seen tonight:

DOG SOLDIERS - This film felt like a mixture between 4 films. ALIEN 2, BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, SOUTHERN COMFORT, and some kinda of Brittish TV drama.  The film is intense but it destracts me with the British slang and camera movements. The cover box compares the film to the EVIL DEAD, but the only thing that does that is they are trapped in this house by Werewolves. Some of the camera work looks bland, but then again some parts are uniquely done. The dark cutout outlines of the creatures hands. The alot of werewolf arms coming through doors and window. The music tried to build drama were their was none at times, but it's worth checking out.

FRAILITY - This film was a very disturbing look at a religious father that was having visions from God. Creepy, yet half predictable. The twist at the end came to mind during the viewing and  the part that fooled me didn't really matter. Good film overall.

I really liked Dog soldiers, loved the direction, and loved some of the gore. I'm going to buy it at some point hopefully.

I didn't mind frailty. Yeah it was pretty predictable, and a few parts were building up the suspence and creepyness, only to kill it with a lame shot or something stupid.

Dog Soldiers is definitely a werewolf movie done right- best horror movie to come out in a long time. The cover art is very cool I thought.

I passed up Dog Soldiers countless times before finally renting it. But, having finally coughed up my hard earned rental dough, I was not disappointed. I thought the flick was beautifully paced, action-packed, and well cast. I definitely liked it better than most of the other foreign(read:non-American)horror films I've seen recently. Dagon was pretty creepy, but Deep in the Woods and Brotherhood of the Wolf? Give me peace, I dunno, maybe you have to be French(Jerry Lewis,Peter Falk) but I just didn't dig 'em.

Also, Dog Soldiers had some of the best "tough guy under stress" lines ever. These are the pithy and witty things a movie tough guy says when faced by werewolves/enemy hordes/zombies/aliens...etc. You know what I'm talkin' about. Dog Soldiers had some great ones.

And finally, I try to avoid Bill Paxton like I try to avoid the herpes. They both suck really bad, and never really go away.

No mimes were injured in the making of this motion picture. Furs were not worn. All catering was strictly vegetarian. Filmed entirely in a non-smoking area. White males were considered suspect and made to feel guilty.

I thought the Werewolf's were really well done and the idea of the Wolfmen being "out there" and the soldiers taking up a defensive stand in the wolves human home was good. The arms through the windows and doors looked neat.

No doubt about it, Dog Soldiers has some great dialogue. I think I'll have to go rent it again!

As a fan of Bill Paxton I can't help but disagree. I'm surprised he isn't in more movies since he's so fun to watch.
