Any opinions on the upcoming SciFi "event" remake of Lorne Green in the wide open black Ponderosa?  I saw a blip on tv the other night and just wondered, "Why?"

Chadzilla

Why indeed?  MONEY!  But who is playing the Lorne Greene character?   And will Dirk Benedict be in it?

Last I heard, Dirk's character has been replaced by a plucky female.

Umm...sorta ruins Starbuck's running obsession on women, gambling and drinking.

Oh my God.   I liked the series ok when I was a kid, but has anyone seen the movie?????   Its one of the few that I have ever turned off and never wanted to see again, and I've even rented and watched other Dirk Benedict movies, like "Demon Keeper" and... "Demon Keeper."

Makes me wonder why, too. It wasn't really a successful show, lasting two years with the universally disdained Galactica 1980, but some folks really seem to like Battlestar Moroni.

It always suffered from the fact that they were running away. Not particularly the stuff of heroic fiction. Even with Star Trek: Voyager, they weren't running, just trying to get home.

When "ST: Voyager" first came out I feared it would end up suffering from the same structural problem as "Battlestar Galactica"  That being the constant underlying premise of the 'trying to get somewhere and having adventures along the way'.  It ends up getting repetitive

Battlestar Moroni.

Bad choice.  Moroni is the name of the angel that visited Joesph Smith in Mormon belief, among other legitimate usages of the word

"Battlestar Moronica" would probably capture your intention better (unless for some reason you are intentionally tring to build a Mormon/Battelstar Galactica bridge which is escaping me)

Battlestar Mormon?  Could we put Donnie and Marie in it?  Please?  And a pithy robot sidekick.  You need pithy robot sidekicks for komedy!

Probably escaping you because you're not familiar with the BG/LDS connection. Glen Larsen is LDS and it heavily influenced quite a bit of the show, Most people wouldn't notice it.

Fair enough :)

Richard Hatch, Apollo in the original series, has wanted to make a new BG series or movie for years, and even spent his own money to create a trailer that all the fans seem to love. Unfortunately, he's basically been snubbed by the idiots who hold the rights to it, and who figure that fans will watch anything with the BG name on it. Remember, executives are incapable of judging quality. To them, Battlestar Galactica and Galactica 1980 are the same.

Which is all well and good, but the fact is that it still isn't the intellectual property of Mr. Hatch. I think I could have done better on the last two Star Wars movies, but they still belong to George. I think Hatch should create his own playground if he's so antsy to create something.

What always bothered me about "Cattlecar Galaxitive" ( Mad Mag version), is the fleeing Holocost survivors thing. Kinda depressing, when ya think about it. At least in Voyager, they knew they still had a home to search for.
