I watched this yesterday and I was a little disappointed.  :bluesad:

Maybe I needed to be younger.

This was a 1973 or 1974 made-for-TV film that scared the hell out of most of us old enough to remember when it came out (like ME, lol) and it was a great example of why 1970's era TV horror ruled with an iron fist.

Sure, the monsters might look ridiculous by today's standards, but the atmosphere and the fright factor were there w\o a doubt. Here's a small clip of the opening.

Link is dead.  Do to Youtube allowing themselves to be pushed around.  Will look for the trailer.

I remember this movie.  Another movie that realy really really creeps me out is the orginal Exorcist.  Especially the crab walk.   :bluesad:

We've talked about this movie quite a bit here...  I own it on DVD and it is disappointing (I'd expect especially if you had no childhood memory of how it had thrilled and chilled, something I do have) but I'm older now and little holds up as well as when I saw it the first time, or, say, over 35 years ago!  Nonetheless, it's a good one, still.

Good to see that my thread is still pumping some fairly fresh blood, with the last reply being the 5th of August 2010!   I have seen the trailer for the remake and
I'm one of those people whose feelings are starting to sink.

I don't know what it is..I just am stuck in that classic mode. Yeah the films are corny by today's standards, but it's that "back in the day" feeling that makes me like the original films more than the projected remakes.  They were better days for me as well (and most of us from that time) and that may also be a factor.

Or maybe you want to see what happen next... The original story never actually ended and we want closure.

I own a VHS of the movie and I'll be really excited when our little one turns 3 or 4 so I could have her watch the movie... Although she is watching Care Bears movie 1 and 2 and Harry Potter 1 and 2 and she is almost 2 years old... [although that is all she wants to watch] :)

I do like the idea that the remake is going to be Rated R its seems hopeful.

That could also be true, Skull. The actual story didn't end, but you did hear Sally's voice as she was among them and now one of them.  Did Alex stay in the house afterward?
Was the handyman (Mr. Harris) pursued and killed by the creatures for 'telling' on them?

When I was little, I thought the creatures took Sally and turned her into one of them using some kind of "monster machine." I had images of them pulling a lever and shooting Sally with some ray that made her one of the little men. Funny how your mind works when you're little.

The remake looks like it could be good but I don't see why they made the little men look like skinned dogs?

Yeah, what is it with skinned hounds these days? They're everywhere. The Resident Evilseries,  The Shivering Isles expansion pack to Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and so on.  Strange..

Because these guys are not spooky looking anymore... Maybe it's because they look like Alf.

Some strange looking little guys, that's for sure.

With the shape of the head and the ears, and that downturned frown, that thing looks like Moe Howard-just put a sugar bowl haircut on him, LOL   maybe a better title would be Don't Be Afraid Of The Stooge.  :tongueout:
