CORE (and other movies that set themselves up for ridicule)

Did you ever notice that some movies set themselves up for ridicule? I'm talking about movies with titles that allow critics to make up clever insults when they write their reviews.

CORE for instance. I can see the reviews already: "Rotten to the core . . . "

I remember back in the 1970s when the movie SPHINX was released. One of the critics reviewed it like this:

"SPHINX : stinks"

Or the movie LESS THAN ZERO. I read a review of that film that simply said:

"LESS THAN ZERO : exactly"

Okay ladies and gentlemen . . . let's hear some more. You must have dozens of them in mind.

I am SO going to see The Core tomorrow on opening night. Three years out of the theater, and only a bad movie can drag me back in. I have just one simple statement for the makers of The Core and the people who plan on making movies similar to it: CGI can't make a movie. After the flop of The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, movie makers should have realized what a joke it was to place the success of a movie onto computer effects. It takes a good story, and quality film making  to create a good movie. CGI should be like the icing on a cake, only added on to make the movie that much better.

The only two that I can think of off the top of my head are How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (shudder) and Cradle 2 the Grave.  I remember reading some reviews that said "how to lose a guy's interest in 10 minutes", "how to waste 12 bucks in 2 hours", and other ones for that movie.  And for Cradle 2 the Grave, I remember people making not-so-clever puns on the 2 part of the title.  What were they thinking putting a 2 in there?  Although I personally loved the movie, that's just setting them up for ridicule.  Same goes for the sequel to the Fast and the Furious, the brilliantly titled 2 Fast 2 Furious.  God, I can just see the ridicule now..
