Here is a list of some 20 Westerns. Can you name any others that you thought were good Western films?

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
The Magnificent Seven
My Name is Nobody
Once Upon a Time in America
A Fist Full of Dynamite
Django
Tombstone
High Plains Drifter
Wild Bunch
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kidd
Hang'em High
Fist Full of Dollars
Pale Rider
One Eyed Jacks
Outlaw Josey Wales
Unforgiven
Joe Kidd
Geronimo
The Quick and the Dead

SkullNinja

High Noon.

I liked everything on your list except Quick & the Dead which I considered silly and trite and Unforgiven, which didn't do much for me. Odd, they both had Hackman.

Deej

The Searchers,(my favorite)
Red River
Blood on the Moon
Law and Order(1932)
San Antonio
Dodge City(second favorite)
Stagecoach(1939)
Shane
Hondo
My Darling Clementine
Destry Rides Again(1939)
Pursued
The Shootist
The Gunfight At the OK Corral
The Gunfighter
The Ox Bow Incident
Last Train From Gun Hill

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.

I liked Curse of the Undead and Ravenous myself.

* THE WILD BUNCH

* RIO BRAVO

* TRUE GRIT

* THE COWBOYS

* THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER

* THE SEARCHERS

* THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

* UNFORGIVEN

* THE SHOOTIST

* HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER

* THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

* THE LONG RIDERS (a guilty pleasure)

* TOMBSTONE (another guilty pleasure)

Honorable mentions:

* ONE EYED JACKS

* EL DORADO

* PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID (director's cut only)

* RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY

* MAJOR DUNDEE

* HIGH NOON (I know it's a classic, but it just doesn't electrify me for some reason)

Special category

* BLAZING SADDLES (it had to be on this list somewhere)

Oh man, how could I have forgotten SHANE and THE LONG RIDERS. Two great films.

Yea, QUICK AND THE DEAD wasn't that good, but I liked it.

I'm going to have to check out THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE and THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER, both of which I can rent locally.

Burgomaster thanks for the correction on ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST.

Deej, I'm going to get the the rest of those JOHN WAYNE movies by this summer.

I also forgot WILD BILL. Really liked this one.

Gosh, remember when the Internet was supposed to be a wonderful magical place where intelligent, articulate people shared information? Neighborhood went to hell real fast... - Anarquistador

Yeah,Scott, I also liked Wild Bill, I think that puts us in the minority though. The Man Who Shot Liberty Vlance is a wicked good movie. The Sons of Katie Elder is also pretty tough, George Kennedy is actually menacing in it and it features a kick ass fist fight.

Have you seen John Wayne in Hondo? It's John Wayne's Shane rip-off, that aside, it's still a good flick. I first saw it in 3-D at a revival house.

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.
