First Potentially Habitable Planet Was Discovered

I like how the planet orbits with the sun, in that one side is always dark, and one always sunny.  You could stage some pretty epic good vs evil fights on that planet!  It would also make a great location for a sci-fi 'Heaven and Hell is a planet separated by light' story crossed with avatar or something.

I also like how one of the scientists apparently said he was 100% sure there will be life on that planet.   

Confident chap.  Let the genocide of the native population begin!

Kind of reminds me of a small comic I saw in our local newspaper once:

It shows 2 U.S. astronauts on Mars, one shaking hands with the local alien leader, and smiling and saying "we mean you no harm."   And in the second frame, they show 2 American Indians on horseback, one looking at the other and saying " yeah, that's what they told us..."

It drives the point home, that's for sure.

Uh, haven't we heard of a planet like this, except it exploded?

Just for fun, let's start a drive to call this planet "Krypton", and have earth type planets orbiting red stars called "Krypton class" planets, especially if they're bigger and have higher G than earth.

What type of bodies would they develop in a higher gravity atmosphere? What would be the cardio-vascular effects?  The overall difference between native Earth folk and the ones born on and adapted to the planet is very interesting in it's potential.

Provided they bring lots of cows with them. Hey, they're gonna need lots of milk to develop bones strong enough to stand up to the higher gravity. Granted, if they came back here they'd have to work hard to keep up their strength since having lower resistance would result in weaker bones and muscles (something that astronauts have to deal with when they're in space for extended periods of time).

True. A larger mass on a planet with lower gravity would see a major weakness in the individual.  Much in the same way that bodybuilders must keep up their strength thru continual diet-exercise to maintain their mass and strength.
