Note: I'm using "B-Movies" in the "would fit in as a review on this site" sense.

A friend in mine in film school is currently taking a "Women & Film" class.  They focus on women directors, of which there is a definite deficit.  If you need an example of that deficit, his group is focusing a report on Penny Marshall.  I suggested he do Leni Riefenstahl.  (If you know who that is, you can see the problem.  Amazingly, the lady is still alive.)

Of course, I immediately thought of women directors and b-movies.  Are there any women directors who have specialized in the b-film, or at least made a substantial mark?  Any who've made a hideously bad film that belongs on this page?

I can think of Kathryn Bigelow and NEAR DARK.  I'm sure you messgae board people, the living database of bad film, can come up with some other names.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Vermin Boy

The late Doris Wishman is the first one who comes to my mind.

Brother Ragnarok

The hell?  When did Doris Wishman die?  I saw her on Conan O'Brien like a year ago.  That sucks.  She made some great sleazy flicks.

Brother R

There are only two important things in life - monsters and hot chicks.

Rape is just cause for murdering.

Doris Wishman...

She's been dead for about a year now.

Has it been a year?  Maybe it has.  I thought it was more like six or seven months.

Hmmm...others.  Roberta Findlay and also Penelope Spheeris, who at least used to do B-movies and cult movies.

Here are two more for you:

* Mary Lambert - She's the director of the two Pet Sematary movies, as well as a couple of Madonna videoes (according to the IMdB)

* Rachel Talalay - Talalay is the director of such films as Freddies Dead: The Final Nightmare , Ghost in the Machine, and Tank Girl

Cullen - Super Genius, Novelist, and all in all Great Guy.

I know its not a B Movie, but scary nonetheless.

Salma Hayek's directorial debut is due out sometime next year (I hate the woman, no wonder Edward Norton drinks so much.)

"Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it."
