If you were stranded on a deserted island and could have only 5 movies with you (that you could watch, because you found a DVD player, a TV, and a working electrical outlet at the base of a palm tree), which movies would you choose?

Mine are:

* THE GODFATHER
* PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE
* WAR OF THE WORLDS
* PINK FLAMINGOS
* NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

Of course! A classic! Maybe we could go with the "great courtroom drama" theme and have:

WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION
12 ANGRY MEN
ANATOMY OF A MURDER
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
INHERIT THE WIND

3. Evil Dead 2
4. Split Second (yeah, the Rutger Hauer one that everyone else hates)
5. Spider Man

Eraserhead
Mullholland Dr.
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Very best of ECW wrestling
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I got two "thinker" movies (both Lynch of course), the best damn bad movie that ever was and ever will be, some wrestling to make me drop my jaw and have me on the edge of my seat in excitement, and the most continuously funny movie I have ever seen. I think I'm making out pretty well with this whole island deal.

Another great topic, Burgo.  Here we go, in no particular order:

1. Hard Boiled
2. Predator
3. Memento
4. Goldeneye
5. Tombstone

And a very close sixth, Office Space.  Although that changes on a day-to-day basis.

Pete B6K

Donnie Darko (I think I could watch it a million times and never get bored with it)

Untitled (Almost Famous director's cut)

Weird Science (I chose this and Untitled becuase they're my two favourite 'prozac movies', films that after watching you can't help but be in a good mood)

Big Trouble in Little China (One of those films where you just wish you could remember the whole script)

Swiss Family Robinson (Just in case I was attacked by pirates theres a wealth of great tricks in here to fend them off. Ha)

Hmm.  Someone already beat me to the idea of using Castaway as an an instructional video.

I'd have to take:

Highlander
Heathers
The Princess Bride

...Plus a couple of disposable tapes that I could use to lash together a crude raft.

raj

Let's see:

Either Dangerous Liaisons or The Lion in Winter
Blade Runner (the director's cut, thank you very much)
The Man Who Would be King
Godzilla
and Brazil

Of course this list is subject to change without notice
