I post the most offensive thing I've ever thought up (accidentally) and now I have more Karma than ever because of it (For apologizing). I didn't get a single "boo" for what I said. I read that post and admit I don't get the 'racist' reaction to the arrowhead comment. Were you implying indianasmith is a Native American who hates Caucasians and likes to shoot 'em with arrows? 

I thought that KoTBL saw my picture and read South African underneath it, leading him to the conclusion: white guy + South African = racist and holder of the keys to apartheid. The only keys I have are my car, office and flat keys.

Trevor, you're about the kindest spirit I know. The racist comment was completely uncalled for. I agree with ulthar: we are all better for knowing you.

Trevor, there are many members on this site with whom I've gotten into debates, but those same people, indianasmith being one of them, I would gladly share a beer and a bad movie with. And amongst those members, you are at the upper crust. I get called things or have things insinuated about me on this site all the time, which is mainly my fault because I'm confrontational and have a misanthropic streak. But you, sir, are a prince.

I do not care if your comment was taken from somewhere else: it was directed at me and that is inexcusable because I never wrote anything or said anything to warrant such a comment.

Obviously you either didn't read my reply, or just didn't get it.

The original joke wasn't a little bad, it was plainly stupid. Trying to lighten the impact, like it wasn't that much, only adds to the insult.


Whatever?  That's a comment people make about something they don't give a damn about.

Your wrap-up is again along the same lines as the original insult.

I'm trying to give you credit here. I don't think you intended insult or harm; I hope you didn't. I think it's a problem of saying the first thing that comes to mind without considering it's impact. Of course you can't consider every word you say or type, but typing is a luxury as we do have the ability to take something back before we say it; you may want to exercise that luxury, and add a little prudence while you are at it.

Another thing is different circles, different worlds. The advantage some of us have is that we have been here for years and had a virtual cross-cultural experience, but some of that experience has been gained from saying stupid things; so you're not the only one who has said something stupid or will you be the last.

The one thing that you can do though is not try to lighten the impact of your mistake like it meant nothing, or add to it. Consider your words.

I hope you enjoy the forum and have a good time here; but do keep in mind that if it's between you and Trevor, I'll sacrifice you in an instant and make it where you would never want to come back here. That's being honest; not something I want to do.
