I hate techno music for the most part. Sure there might be a scattered song I'm fond of from my youth but honestly to me, it tends to ruin most dances and seems little more to me than a modern form of disco.

I don't mind it...in moderation. It's like something I'd have no problem listening to in a car full of buddies before we're about to hit the downtown clubs or something. Basically something to listen to to get you pumped up or whatever. However, my neighbors play it all the time. It's like really, what type of activity requires techno music blasting at 8am...making coffee?  :bouncegiggle:

Wow. The thread took a musical tangent. That's cool, I love music, and love hearing people talk about their loves, hates, etc., whether I agree with what they say or not.

As far as Metal goes, yeah, I love it, but I will have to agree that the fans can be very annoying sometimes. I also have the same opinion about "punk" afficianados. You know, the ones that talk about when punk was pure and how it's been destroyed by bands like Green Day and nobody knows what real punk is anymore and yadda yadda yadda. Somehow they are the only one that knows what real punk is.

Guess what? NOBODY knows or can define what punk is, jackass. Least of all you. I grew up going to alot of punk shows in the mid 80's and saw alot of bands: Dead Kennedy's, The Dickies, Black Flag, GBH, The Vandals, etc., and I refuse to talk about what punk is, mainly because it doesn't matter in the slightest what I think. The bands that did it may know, but they don't talk about it either, so shut the f**k up.

I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

Very well said.  I think I may (not even sure now) have brought up the "you sold out" and "punk" attitudes in this thread.  I've always simply laughed at this idea.  The whole term "sell out" is meaningless unless a band is doing free concerts and giving away paraphernalia.  The thought process behind not being able to listen to a band because they're on a major record label is not only asinine its contradictory.  What is the major difference between indy labels and big labels.  Nothing aside better production and more money at the big labels.  If a person doesn't join a major record label its up to them.  Good luck being "anti-establishment" when you're 50 plus and wearing a nose ring.

This kind of goes along with my hatred towards the tween-tards who honestly think they're being rebellious by listening to certain types of music.  Either that or dressing the "scene" piercing and tattooing anything on their body to be "different".  I wish these people would look around and see there are 1 million plus kids just like them at any Hot Topic doing the same thing.

Off the topic of music, I can't stand spellcheckers in the cyber world.  If I misspell a word or two on my Facebook status I'm so friggin sorry.  I'm not writing an essay there to get into Harvard.

PS I didn't spellcheck this on purpose. :tongueout:

Let's be honest here. In today's world I am far more different because I DON'T have any piercings or tattoos. Sorry, you tattooed and pierced people, but you are SO not making a statement anymore.

Thankfully, a growing number of tattooed and pierced people aren't trying to make a statement anymore (if you're going to "make a statement," you should be clear at least to yourself regarding what you're making a statement about and what that statement actually is). A lot of us just think it looks nice/cool with regards to piercings (I have a single nostril screw that I thought looked nice when I got it and I still think it does), and, in regards to tattoos, they can be a marker of an important point in someone's life, a tribute to someone or something, or they're chosen to represent the person in some way. Is it logical? No, but so much of human culture isn't and doesn't need to be.

That's not to say that there aren't people who still think they're unique for partaking in body modification, but rather that not everyone who gets a piercing or a tattoo is that naive.

Mr. DS

To clarify on my earlier post, I myself have tattoos as well.  However, I'm speaking of people who go out of their way to appear freakish for the sake of being rebellious.  Same thing with dressing like an oddball.

You gotta love how people can now buy an identity that claims to be unique while remaining mass-produced and shallow, instead of going out and putting in all the hard work of developing one of their own.

Mr. DS

The whole fascination with "guidos" is really starting to annoy me.  Shows like the Jersey Shore featuring musclehead guys who over preen themselves and overchatty women who think way too much of themselves.  I love Italian people and fear their reputation is going further down the toilet with shows like this.

The people who have to be different, just like everybody else, so they can fit in with the other nonconformists. :bouncegiggle:

Back to the dumb retail clerk theme. I can't stand when a store relocates an item and they have no clue where they put it.  Then you ask and they lead you to the old section and maintain they don't have it.  But out of sheer luck you find it yourself if you're lucky.

Retail clerks who ask you if you want to join their [insert generic discount program name here] every single time you go through the checkout.  Put a little sign up or something - don't ask every single person that every time they buy something.

I know it's the store policy and not the clerk's fault, but it gets really old.  Especially if I'm standing in line with my usual 1 item and the old lady in front of me - who's already moving at 1/10th normal human speed - decides that yes, she would like to sign up for that plan

Or supermarkets that rearrange their sections periodically to encourage browsing. You figure out exactly where everything is, then they move it again so you'll wander around and do more impulse buying while you get used to the new layout.

I've never understood supermarket layouts in the first place. Things are not always grouped in a way that makes sense. I once wandered all over a store looking for the Mexican food. There was a section for ethnic foods, but it wasn't there. I finally find it in the snack food aisle, next to the chips. Presumably, somebody put it there because nachos are chips. The same store has the cheeses at the opposite end of the store from the dairy products. But not all of them. My local supermarket has a condiment aisle with all manner of pickles, relishes and preserves, but the sauerkraut is with the canned vegetables. The canned chili is also with the vegetables - something I discovered after scouring the soup and canned pasta aisle looking for it. And don't look for maple syrup in the baking aisle with the pancake mix and all the other sweeteners. It's over with the cereal because somebody decided it was breakfast. Shopping for groceries always makes me think of the episode of MASH where Klinger gets sick and the officers have to figure out his filing system.
