Disliked The Role But I Like The Actor

A switch up on the other thread, are there roles out there where an actor you liked was cast where they simply didn't belong. Two easily come to mind for me in the same film series, Natalie Portman and Samuel L. Jackson in the Star Wars Prequels.

BELA LUGOSI MEETS A BROOKLYN GORILLA (1951)-A truly dreadful film. Lugosi-who's been in LOTS of C and Z budget films-even looks bored and embarassed.
DR.TERRORS GALLERY OF HORRORS (1966)-no-not the Peter Cushing film....the David Hewitt no-budget drek. I like BAD movies...this is beyond bad-not even worth a laff. Lon Chaney Jr. and John Carradine are fine actors...totally wasted in this mind numbing anthology. Ive read Gold Key comic books that had better storylines.

Just rubbish.

Johnny Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Just came across as annoying and weird.

Sigourney Weaver in Avatar. I like Weaver but it seems like the part was created especially for her because she's friends with Cameron.

I think Christian Bale is a phenomenal actor, but I'm not crazy about him as Batman.

Its the goofy Batman voice he uses that kills me. He's great as Bruce Wayne but atrocious as Batman.

Strongly agree with both of these.

Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh and Will Smith in WILD WILD WEST - god that movie couldn't have been a bigger mess.

Orson Welles as Rochester in the 1943 adaptation of JANE EYRE - sometimes you can be a great actor and still not be the right actor.

Bruce Willis, and Giovonni Ribisi, in PERFECT STRANGER - just...ugh.

Alan Rickman in DOGMA - felt like he was phoning it in and that movie wasn't nearly as thought-provoking as it thought it was.

Christopher Walken in, well, pretty much everything after KING OF NEW YORK.

Adam Sandler in Funny People. I thought he did a decent job in Punch Drunk Love, acting wise and going out of his range of the idiotic man child with a heart of gold he plays in most comedies. But then he kinda tried 'acting' again in Funny People as a comic with cancer and it was just an overblown mess of a movie.

Whatever the hell ANTHONY HOPKINS does in LEGENDS OF THE FALL, I don't remember much, but will say he is usually better than okay - even great - with me; it's just that whole silly movie. LEGENDS OF THE FALL has one good part, where BRAD PITT gets killed at the end. The voice-over, Native-American like, states: "It was a good death!" Totally.

I don't dislike Brad Pitt, but I know what you mean. Someone in the other thread (opposite of this one) that they only liked him in Se7en. I thought he was absolutely phenomenal in that film, but aside from that I've never seen what the fuss is about. I liked his performance in Meet Joe Black a bit, but I wasn't blown away. I think Se7en was his one moment of true greatness and he's been riding on that for quite a while.

Well my point was I like ANTHONY HOPKINS but I hated that LEGENDS OF THE FALL (especially the part where you can see BRAD PITT's long hair tucked under his uniform cap - as opposed to it having been chopped off

) I admit, I'm no BRAD PITT fan.
