Growing up in Germany back in the day I learned to hate Live is Life by Opus with great passion. It was such a huge hit here and especially popular during beer fests in those huge beer tents. People would go NUTS over the song, climbing on tables, stomping their feet while clapping hands like those wind-up monkey dolls with cymbals.

Then there was the time we went camping and across the lake somebody would BLAST that song, looped, a couple of hours every night. Worst torture ever  :bluesad:

Sorry about that but I rate Live is Life as one of the worst songs from the 80s, right next to Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin

The reason I like Live Is Life is because freedom for Eastern Europe seemed to follow in its' wake and that was nothing bad.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Umaril The Unfeathered

The Smithereens had a song called House We Used To Live In that always gets me a tear or two.  From the time I was was born to the time I was around 7, we lived in this lovely one-floor modular in old Lebanon, NJ.

I loved that house so much...What makes me sad is the way the singer sees the ghost images of his memories as he goes thru the house and sees his family in the kitchen and such.

Tam-Riel na nou Sancremath.
Dawn's Beauty is our shining home.

An varlais, nou bala, an kynd, nou latta.
The stars are our power, the sky is our light.

Malatu na nou karan.
Truth is our armor.

Malatu na bala
Truth is power.

Heca, Pellani! Agabaiyane Ehlnadaya!
Be gone, outsiders! I do not fear your mortal gods!

Auri-El na nou ata, ye A, Umaril, an Aran!
Aure-El is our father, and I, Umaril, the king!
