My point exactly!    It's mostly politics for them.

I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

As much as I want Jacki Weaver to win, I don't think she deserves it: her performance was good, but really only knocked it up a notch for about 15 minutes of the film near the end, the rest was pretty by-the-numbers I thought. [I remember watching it and thinking for the first hour, 'she is getting Oscar buzz for THIS?']

I haven't seen the other noms, but Rush did a great job in King's Speech so sign me up!  I find it hard to go past Firth either for Best Actor.

Toy Story 3 is about the closest an animated film for Best Picture as I've ever seen, though I doubt it'll get up.

Disappointed Daft Punk didn't get a nom for Tron, though I'm not surprised.

Considering the industry buzz around it, I feel Social Network's going to clean up in many categories including best adapted screenplay, score, director and editing.

As much as I loved Inception, I don't think it deserves a best picture or director win: IMO it was a great film but it wasn't as groundbreaking or mindbending as people seem to think it was.  If anything Dark Knight deserved it more but didn't win, so I don't see how it deserves the award.

Exit Through the Gift Shop for best doco [its a great film!]
