What Movies Has This Site Lead You To

One of the things I like best about this site is that it judges bad movies from a different set of criteria than most other resources. A movie that would normally get a 1-out-of-5-stars kind of rating elsewhere gets reviewed and looked at differently here, by sets of eyes that appreciate the special charm that bad movies carry.

I have been led to a number of movies that I would have otherwise never known about.

So, what are some of the more noteworthy b-grade, z-grade, cult, or just outright off-the-beaten-path films that this site has led you to that you would otherwise have taken longer to find or even outright missed? They can even be movies that seem obvious now but at the time they were unknown to you or ones that you simply missed but this site made sure you saw it. This can also include films that you couldn't remember but that the "What Was That Film?" board led you back to.

I'll give a few of my own:

Psychomania
Ginger Dead Man
The Beast of Yucca Flats
Numerous Hammer Films (Too many to list)
The Wicker Man (the original of course)
Bad Ronald

Those are  just a few. I was just marvelling at how much this site has affected my movie viewing habits. For the better of course.

I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

The Burgomaster

Off the top of my head:

* MR. JINGLES
* DARK HARVEST 3: SCARECROW
* MOTOR HOME MASSACRE
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

SPazzo

To be honest, about 80% of the movies I have watched since late 2009.  Off the top of my head:
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Beast of Yucca Flats
Barbarella
Robot Monster
The Giant Claw

Doggett

Gwendoline
TerrorVision
Frankenhooker
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Sisterhood
The Dark Power
Big Bad Mama
Body Melt
The Brain
Galaxina
Hard Rock Zombies
Q
Slumber Party Massacre
Street Trash
The Stuff
Xanadu

So a few then.
The last on the list was tough to sit through...  :bluesad:

Yeah, Xanadu is baaaaaaaaaaaad. It's one of those that I would never watch on my own but I would with my wife. It's like a chick b-movie.

The most notable movies this site has led me to are:

The Forbidden Zone (a movie that never fails to take me to my happy place)
For Y'ur Height Only (Go Weng Weng!)
Gwendoline (Tawny Kitaen topless. What's not to like?  :tongueout:)
Galaxina (not much fun to me, but I first heard of it through Andrew)

There are others, but most of the movies mentioned on this site I either saw long ago, saw before they were mentioned here, or have no interest in. I have learned much about the movies I love that I wouldn't have known otherwise, and that is one of the things that keeps me coming back here every day.
"They tap dance not, neither do they fart." --Greensleeves, on the Fig Men of the Imagination, in "Twice Upon a Time."

Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Carnosaur
Troll
Future War
Krull
Plan 9 From Outer Space
The Stuff
The Dungeonmaster (aka Ragewar)

I am very grateful for Badmovies.org helping me develop the tolerance and pleasure to watch b-movies. In a way, I can't help but feel like a more cultured and educated person after watching so many bad movies and reading the stories from the directors, actors, creature effects artists and composers who involved themselves in the project and lived to tell the tale.

Manos: The Hands of Fate
Troll 2
Slugs
the Blob
The Wraith
The Brain From Planet Arous
Plan 9

None actually. As unbelievable it may sound, I wasn't fully aware of badmovies.org until a online friend pointed me here. I signed up immediately, my friend never did though.

'Troll 2' and 'The Apple' HAVE to be seen to be believed, and even then...it's Lovecraftian how you think you know the creators didn't know how bad it was. They were inept, they couldn't help it.

Right?

The best though, is movies that are good (Wickerman and Forbiddenzone for instance) but do belong on this site because they're just too damn weird for their own good.
"Do you have something against droppings?" "Well, no, I..." "Sure, everyone says that till they step in it."

Without this site, I never would have experienced the joy and wonder that is
CEMETERY MAN.
"I shall smite you in the nostrils with a rod of iron, and wax your spleen with Efferdent!!"

lester1/2jr
