Do You Like Black Licorice?

Oh, yes.

Especially not the domestic black licorice, but the imported black licorice. When we lived near Newport, Rhode Island, a number of years ago, there was a store in the downtown area, where you could buy black licorice imported from--I think it was Belgium--and that stuff was far better than any black licorice made domestically.

A few years later, after we moved from there to near San Diego, California, we discovered that Baskin Robbins 31 Flavours sold black licorice ice cream. Now what was good as well, and I think it was my father's favorite flavour of ice cream. But I haven't seen that in many years as well.

Now, living where I do, one of my favorite snacks to purchase at the concession stand at the cinema is Twizzlers, but that is red licorice and not black licorice.

Here we get Twizzlers in black (licorice), red (strawberry or cherry), purple (grape), yellow (lemon), green (lime or mint!), orange and blueberry.  The kids are big on the rainbow packs.  I still prefer the black.

I like black licorice and have even had licorice ice cream!  I used to get several feet of it at the candy store.

I like black licorice. Not a favourite, but it tastes OK. Allsorts in particular. And I like a few things that incorporate fresh licorice or anise flavour. I think the natural flavour is a must.

What I don't like are other types of candy that are black licorice flavoured, like licorice jelly beans or licorice ju jubes. I would even go as far as saying I don't care for black Twizzlers. Gotta be real licorice.

I used to hate it, but it's slightly grown on me... I still pretty much hate it though...

I love the taste of licorice. Sweetened, salted, or even the actual root itself, I love it.
