BioShock...really like it although there is a lot of searching for items...

Beat that a while back.  Very tricky and there is a crapton of items to find.  Even using a stragedy guide, I wasn't able to find everything.  How does that work?

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

Right now I've taken a step back and am playing my completed game of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.  I actually beat the game w\o getting killed once, on the hardest difficulty. I'm level 100 in each and every major and minor skill.

Right now I'm just going thru areas I never went thru before, and I'm trying to see if I can raise 1,000,000 gold (aka "Septims") just for the fun of it. Just messin' with it in other words.

I do need to beat Metro 2033 though so I can send it back to Gamefly for the next one, whatever it might be.

Just finished 'Bulletstorm'

I didn't care for Metro 2033

I'll probably go back to playing 'Borderlands' until Portal 2 comes out.

Bulletstorm I hear is awesome! I gotta' play it.

I'm also awaiting Homefront and wondering how the hell the Koreans managed to take America. With the help of the Chinese, no doubt.  :buggedout:

It is more John Milius dreaming up more then could actually happen.  Red Dawn was fun but no where near based on any reality.  There is some information about the story out.  I, also, appreciate that you are taking on someone different but no not realistic.

Well, in Red Dawn's defense, there was a method to John Milius' madness.

At that time, the first war in Afghanistan with the Russians was in full swing.  Children had to forgeo growing up to become partisan rebels and freedom fighters, and ordinary citizens became resistance fighters.

Milius, I believe, wanted to put America in that position, thus his take on an alternate universe version of America to show us what it would be like.

I'm still playing The Saboteur and enjoying the heck out of it. Excellent main character, an Irish race car driver turned resistance fighter in WWII Paris.  He likes to take a swig out of his flask and have a smoke whenever possible, and he's cocky in a very likable way.   It's sort of a cheesy dime novel sort of a story;  good fun  :teddyr:  The music is great, the perfect compliment to the WWII Parisian atmosphere.  I'm having loads of fun blowing up everything in sight, driving my race car at 100 mph down the crowded streets of Paris (taking quite a toll on the pedestrian traffic  :bouncegiggle: ), and blasting Nazis left and right.

I hold invasion as highly doubtful.  It requires a huge expenditure and really doesn't accomplish much in the modern world.  Such territorial gains are better via economic controls, why send troops to hold a place they aren't welcome for an extended period of time when holding someone to a debt gives you similar control with little additional expenditure.  Sadly, finance is the empire tool of the modern world.  Besides more directly, North Korea is becoming a thorn in the sides of its allies.  Just my thoughts on the ideas being presented.

I do understand the point on Milius and Red Dawn.  However, Russia at the time was on the down slide.  We were better able to tell their moves then the other way around.  It was also deeply concerned with domestic social issues.  Rather counter productive being a communist nation for the workers and watch as unions pop up.  Hurts the old propaganda machine.  After the fall, we as the US should have stepped in more to help them transition that failing still puts us head butting with them.  If you would like Umaril, I'm open to discuss much more in another spot.  Just don't want to take too much space in this forum.

Back on topic: Anyone else going back to old school?  Been playing Clash at Demonhead and Batman.  I'm surprised graphically the NES isn't as impressive today but the games are rather engaging.  You get attached to the characters in most NES games in ways that you don't get in many modern.

I think these days developers have to spend 90% of their time creating the hi-def graphics.  Back in the old days the percentage was far less, and they could spend almost all their time working on the actual game.  And quite often it really showed.

I must agree and thank you for summarizing something I view as well.

You know, I rarely play video games, but I used to. And when I did I was more into PC games of say, 8-12 years ago. I recently found my case of all my old PC games. I popped in and installed the original Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and had a blast going through all the single player scenarios. I used to play MOHAA online as well. I didn't even look into it, but does anybody actually still play MOHAA online? I'll have to pop on and see if anybody does.
I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org
