Ah, the smell of fresh-cut grass, the warmth of the sun, the electricity of the crowd . . . unfortunately, I will experience none of this sitting in front of my TV holding a beer.

I'm a baseball fan. My DBacks will probably have another horrible year, and I'm getting very frustrated with them, but I still enjoy baseball season. I absolutely love going to a game, though. Having a beer or two, taking in the game, it's fun.

Red Sox fan, here.  I have tickets to 4 games . . . the first is just a few weeks away.  Still a bit cold here in Boston, so I'm hoping the weather will warm up quickly. I went to a D'backs game about 10 years ago when I was in AZ for work.  Had a great time.

Mariners here, I'm happy to have the season start, but not at all optimistic.

I'm familiar with the Mariners. It's not dissimilar from my situation with the DBacks. You never know. Sparks do happen. Look at the Rockies. They've been known to be down 10 games or more from 1st place with two months to go and make it into the playoffs.

We can but hope.   No matter what I love the idea of baseball and the whole vibe around it.

The Mariners do, however, have one of the best starting pitchers in baseball.

Oh, don't get me started on starting pitchers. The DBacks used to be so set there. We've had Curt Schilling, Randy Johnson, Brandon Webb, Dan Haren, and some amazing closers as well.

However, I just checked and the combined career W/L record for the DBacks starting rotation is 105/89, which is pretty good. We'll see.

I'm not really a big baseball fan.. I'll follow the Blue Jays but little else.  My interest even in my favorite team wanes if they suck, and they do.

I'm a big fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.  In fact, I just took in a game tonight, down at the Citizens Bank Park.  They played the Pirates.  Good game.  Plus, I'm hoping what with Lidge, Oswalt, Cliff Lee, Hamels and Blanton pitching, they have some decent games ahead of them.

Get ready for a Phillies / Red Sox World Series.

I LOOOOVE baseball.  I rather enjoy the minor league games.

I used to go to the Durham Bulls with regularity - back before they built the new, modern stadium.

We had to park in peoples' yards and driveways (with their permission) and just like in the movie BULL DURHAM, the home runs really did hit the businesses across the street.

Going to the games was a BLAST.  I loved it.  Never been to one in the new stadium, though.

I'd lose my whole summer if I let myself watch the games on tv.  So, I have to limit myself to just watching the post season.

Baseball rocks!

Doggett, just this past weekend, I enjoyed a conversation with an older English gentleman I know about Cricket.  I told him that as hard as I have tried to read up on it and study, I just don't understand it.  He tried to help.   :teddyr:
