BLUE CHEER - Vincebus Eruptum

I've been meaning to get this album for an absolute age, got it for about $2 from the record store in Preston. Had it on quite loud (it seems to demand it), and I dig it but only a couple of tracks stand out; "Summertime Blues", "Doctor, Please" and "Parchment Farm". Really early display of heavy rock jammed out at great volume, just can't believe all the bad reviews I have read about this album.

WELCOME BACK, CIRCUS!  Where have you been??    I missed seeing my favorite smart-ass clown around.

I LOVE that Vincebus Eruptum!!  One of my favorites... you have cited the three best tracks.  The other three will grow on you, I promise...   :teddyr:

1987 Progressive/Thrash, heavy metal masterpiece from the band that later evolved into Nevermore. I picked up the re-release (which also features 2nd LP "Into The Mirror Black") from Ironbird Records a few weeks back and have been playing it constantly. Warrel Dane's voice is totally on another planet. Can't wait for the new Sanctuary reunion album later this year!

Interesting compilation of an obscure band from Virginia in the 70's that were so influenced by Black Sabbath as to be a virtual ripoff band. However, musically they were pretty solid and entertaining. The music itself, minus the vocals, is so close to Sabbath that one could easily mistake them as such. The vocals, however, are a little different and there's a little harmony included that was almost non-existent in early Sabbath recordings.
I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org
