Hi,

I'm on sort of a mission to track down a bunch of specific types of characters from 80s/90s movies. The goofy stoner/surfer secondary character that would appear regularly enough through the 80s and 90s. I mean the real typical ones.

The best examples of what I have so far, and exactly the kinds I'm looking for are in Terrorvision and Prehysteria. If you've seen those you'll know what I mean. A more popular example would be Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. But he's a lil too well known, I'm sorta after the obscure ones.

If you know of any, preferrably with a youtube trailer link, It'd be a real help.

Thanks!

Here's two links and timecodes if you're not familiar with the two films I said:

Here are some off-the-beaten-path ones for ya:

Serial Mom (1994): The only John Waters movie I like, actually. There's a great stereotypical stoner as far as behavior, but she's a chick instead of the usual guy stoner you see in movies. She witnesses one of Serial Mom's murders and later becomes a victim herself.

River's Edge (1986): Maybe not what you're looking for because they're not secondary characters, but an edgy independent drama with a lot of interesting faces, including Dennis Hopper, Crispin Glover, and very early appearances from Ione Skye and Keanu Reeves. The movie is filled with stoners. In fact they are the main course throughout.

True Romance (1993): Perhaps not obscure enough, but I have to admit that Brad Pitt, who I normally am pretty sketchy about, turned in a fairly memorable secondary stoner character.

Friday (1995): Chris Tucker's Smokie character was awesome, back before Chris Tucker became well-known and everybody realized they could only take so much of him. This, however, was his indisputable high-water mark.

There's a few for you.

Oh, and sorry I'm not providing any timecodes or Youtube links. I'm at work and can't get away with that.

Heh, heh!  I just watched this the other day.  I love his reaction to the well armed mob guys.  "You guys wanna smoke a bowl...(mob guy cocks shotgun)...oh..."

The aliens piloting the spaceship while the secretary and the robot screwed in HEAVY METAL were very much the goofy stoner type.  They fired up a machine that left trails of cocaine and they snorted it all up, then tried to steer the ship.  I wouldn't want to be on a ship if they were at the controls, even if I could screw the busty secretary on it.

Swamp Thing

Cliff in Dead Man On Campus is one of the best movie stoners.
Abby Arcane: Is there a Mrs. Swamp Thing?
Swamp Thing: No, I'm a bachelor.

There's quite a few in the teen movie Can't Hardly Wait.

The guy in wayne's world they find on the bench and fear he might spew.

I can't specifically remember any, but Class on Nukem High relied on Radioactive weed. There had to be a few stoners thrown in somewhere.

There is the girl in Heathers during the lunch time pool montage (if you will), who shows up every now and then.

Smokie in the Scary Movie films.

Jay and Silent Bob.

Mark in Empire Records. The GWAR scene is funny.

There's no shortage of college stoners in PCU (1994).

Also, Feds (1988) has a pretty good stoner scene in it.

Psycho Circus

I think there was some blonde stoner militant guy in "The Dead Next Door" if I remember rightly. Sorry, I'm too lazy to whack in the DVD and check...
